I know. I already explained my fat fingers to the last person lolAikman won 3.
Lol. You wanna die on that hill do you? All the power to you.I think we have a better shot in 2014 and 2016 simply because of the real, not fake, leadership that he would provide.
That's something the Cowboys have been lacking from the QB position since he retired.
And never more evident with his displeasure with Switzer's laid back approach and how the team started that playoff game in SF.
Switzer had even made the comment about the difference he perceived between college and the pros when he said "these are men and I am going to treat them like men". He was wrong, pro football players need to be treated like older boys playing the same game.
Think Aikman didn't notice the difference between the intensity level of Johnson preparing for the playoffs as opposed to Switzer? Even the leader of the team, the QB, can have just so much effect.
The Pats beat the Cowboys by 3 touchdowns earlier that yearI don't know. That 2007 team was stacked and the Patriots were vulnerable as the Giants showed. That team did have a huge leadership deficit however, with Cupcake and Garrett. I don't think Aikman goes to Cabo and his leadership holds the team together to at least get a rematch with the Pats. The unknown would have been how Aikman handled TO, but he was still fairly quiet in 2007.
In 2016, we got HFA throughout the playoffs with a rookie QB. I doubt Aikman would have wasted that opportunity falling behind to the Packers like we did. He wins that game and a home NFC Championship game at least.
Neither2007 maybe 2014
He threw a highly accurate short to mid range laser, but he was NOT a high end deep ball passer. When he had to loft the ball up he wasnt close to as accurate.
I’ve never heard Troy deep ball being criticized. Maybe I missed that
Yeah, it was just weird. Troy could throw a 40-50 yd frickin' laser, but his deep ball was not great.
I agree 100%When it was announced Aikman was retiring, Jimmy Johnson was contacted for a quote by journalists. Johnson spoke about Aikman's ability as a quarterback, and admired his accuracy.
Johnson went on to state Aikman was the quintessential team player. Per Johnson Troy could have put up Marino numbers. But the team concept required him to work within a system of get ahead with the pass, then control the contest with the running game and defense.
I marvel at the comments about Troy on this site. Not just now but deep in the tenure of Romo and how so many genuflect to the same comments of offensive line and Emmitt and Defense.
As Troy's time moves further into history, Dallas fans have become the echo chamber of fans of other teams in regard to Aikman. And both groups underestimate Aikman's career.

Comparing Aikman to Brady is like comparing Zeke to Emmitt. Not even close. The flip-side of that is that if Aikman was with Belichick instead of Tom Brady, Aikman might have won more Super Bowls than Brady.
Neither
I share that opinion. Those seasons were about leadership. I'm not saying guaranteed super bowl win, but making it to the game, yes.2007 and 2016, yes.
