Does Aikman win a SB with any team from Parcells forward?

[DFWJC]

I know. They also beat the Giants in the regular season, but didn't see even put up 20 points against them in the Super Bowl. I guess you could make the argument that our defense wasn't as good as the Giants at that moment.

I think come playoff time, the Giants had one of the best pass rushes in years.
That defense peaked at the right time.
Cant believe they held that historically great Pats offense to 14 points
That was the 2nd highest scoring team in league history

Having said that, all kinds of fluke allowed the Giants to win that day.
I think the Pats would beat them 4 out 5 times….jmo

2007, 2016, 2021 absolutely with his skills and poise and the way aikman reads defenses.
Dak has no such command nor did romo back in 2007 .

[Hadenough]

Absolutely they win at least 1. Starting with the Romo game against the Giants in 2007.
They beat GB in 2014 and Aikman would of shredded the 31st ranked GB pass defense in 2016. The beat SF last year and would of been neck and neck with the Rams for the NFC championship. Aikman with those new rules to protect the QB would of been a force.

[CowboyRoy]

Do you think Tony Romo would’ve won a ring with the players Aikman had

Oh hell yah. Danny White, Dak, Romo. All of them win one with Aikmans team.

[CowboyRoy]

If there was a former Dallas QB that could have went deep in the playoffs, Aikman was certainly it. He thrived in the big games.

Thriving? You man like handing the ball to Emmitt? He thrived in his role of driving the bus no doubt.
The loss to SF in the championship game when they actually needed him he looked terrible.

[goshann]

Maybe with Parcells. He wouldn't have screwed up something as simple as a kick hold with a greasy ball.

Post any Lori Morgan pictures please. Or Aikmans country hits.

That team sucked. No chance

Parcells ruined Romo's career.

He rotted on the bench for 4 years under Parcells while he played the washed up Bledslow and Testicleverde.

Then to top it off he put him in as a holder. Poor guy. Ever since the bobbled snap at the GL in the playoffs he has been laballed a choker by the morons. And didnt even have anything to do with playing QB.

I really hate to say it but Aikman was basically Brad Johnson with the TB defense. The offense went through E.Smith.

The offense finished with Emmitt, they didn't start there. It was commonly known they passed to set up the run. Troy was much better than Brad Johnson. Not even close.

Aikman was the best bus driver in the history of the NFL. Did it better than anyone. Accurate on the short to medium play action stuff. Incredible leader and expected the best. Tough, hardnosed guy. Rarely threw a pick and understood game management.

?...................Sorry buddy, the 90's Cowboys did NOT pass to set up the run. That was 100% Emmitt Smith's offense. Aikman was a side show.

He also rarely threw a TD - Aveaged 13.5 TDs, 12.1 picks a year ....165 TD, 145 picks

Yes, they did. I've had the time to reminisce lately and have watched several old games. They passed to get up early and then finished teams off by running down their throats. Even the announcers talked about it. Watch some old games and refresh your memory.

Its amazing to me how many people give so much credit to Aikman for the 90's team. You would think that he was Tom Brady leading his team and willing them to SB's throwing for 400 yards and 4 TD's.

When the Cowboys were down going into the 2nd half, they came out running the ball. I remember they would run it like 6 out of 7 times. They won many of those games in the 4th when the defense was just too tired from battle in the oline and Emmitt.

And its not like the Cowboys were scoring big points every week. Lots of 27-17 type wins.

Passing to get an early lead in some games isnt passing to open up the run. Thats just surprising them with what they dont expect.

The Cowboys were a run first team and everyone knew it. What they had was a good OC that understood the importance of getting a lead for that particular team.

IF the Cowboys got down big they had trouble coming back. Case and point, the passing game just couldnt dominate when they needed to often enough.

Aikman thrived on play action passes and 3rd and a 3rd and short passing attack.

He averaged like 220 yards and a little more than 1 TD per game typically.

[Brax]

Lets assume its not even a conversation with the teams from after the 90's up to Parcells. But do any of you feel that Aikman would have won a SB with the teams of Parcells, Wade, Garrett, MM?

Yes 1 maybe 2 .

Funny lmao TA a bus driver Dak elite You can’t make this stuff up.

The bus driver who can’t throw deep and isn’t accurate, and is pocket passer statuette, trolling again HOF jag according to you, you lost what little credibility you had.

Edit: lol... I responded to the wrong post. But the arguments still hold.

You're taking the story from Super Bowl 28 and extrapolating out to be representative of their entire modus operandi. Like I said, rewatch those old games. 1992 is a fun season if you have the time. I know going into the NFC Championship that year they explicitly stated they were, "going to pass to set up the run." Check the beginning of the second half. At 1:44:58 of that video Summerall mentions both teams coming in with that philosophy and Madden says, "especially the Cowboys." But that philosophy was remarked upon multiple times throughout the season, too (like I said, I've had the time recently).

"So much credit to Aikman," is what? His deserved credit? You realize he threw 10 TDs and no picks in 3 playoff games in 1992? They struggled quite a bit to run early in those games. You seem to have a rosy opinion of the o-line. Not saying they weren't great but it's not like Troy was never sacked or hit as he threw (especially since he threw a lot from under center).

I know it was said on something I watched recently (maybe his top 100 vid?) that he has the highest playoff completion % of any QB, including Brady. Just because he didn't put up gawdy numbers doesn't diminish him or his contribution to one of the greatest teams in NFL history.

How did they get the lead? By passing more than running to start games. Not only that, but also by using the pass to set up the run. One of their most devastating run plays was the draw- which is a run play disguised as a pass.

From an LA times article prior to Super Bowl 28-

"Johnson figures that if his players can repeatedly make four or five yards on first down, they can put so much second- and third-down pressure on their opponents that everything else will fall into place.

Johnson is like a good pitcher who always wants to be ahead of the hitter.

The most likely way to a sure gain, he also reasons, isn’t a power run--even with Emmitt Smith carrying the ball--but a short pass.

Accordingly, the Cowboys pass most of the time on first down."
