Does any team draft better than Dallas?

Demarcus Ware, Anthony Hitchens, Mo Claiborne, Damien Wilson, Joey Ivie, Danny Amendola... I could go on but you get the idea.

There are even more who have MADE it to the Super Bowl with other teams but lost.. starting with Chido Awuzie last year.
Ware is the only one that was good though. Those other guys were along for the ride.

We got to start winning in the plsyoffs…

I also think signing a big name free agent and trades are sometimes are necessary in order to win it all…

Hitchens was a starting LB for the Chiefs, he played well there for a couple years. True- no idea who Claiborne made it there with, but doubt he was a starter. I remember Amendola as a Ram, not a Cowboy.

The question I remember is someone saying name 3 and he went way beyond that.

Fact is that they only won RINGS because they LEFT DALLAS.

Don't like that FACT?

Too bad.

Drafting very well is a cornerstone of a championship team.

Doing well in FA is another; we have not shown to be all that good there.

and then there is the FO and Coaching. nuff said.

Those crowing about drafting well are the same types that think participation trophies mean something.

I grew up with Tom Landry and the teams that were fighting to make it to the SB just about EVERY YEAR.

27 years since we got to the SB and the same time since we even SNIFFED a SB.

Until we are in the NFC Championship game BECAUSE we deserved to be there, I see nothing to really feel all that great about.

Over what period? The last 10 years I think we’ve been top five with the Vikings, Ravens, and Chiefs probably ahead but that good drafting was off-set by a poor head coach and cap mismanagement.

The last three years we’ve probably been the best drafting team overall but again cap management 3-5 years ago hangs over our head.

The last two years we’ve done much better with the salary cap and made huge inroads overall. It’s still gonna be hard to have ultimate success with a high priced QB that’s not top 3 in the league but it’s possible if we keep up the drafting and better cap management.

Yeah, I think you can look at it as having four corner stones:
1. Coaching
2. Free Agency
3. Drafting
4. Trading

If you look at it the big picture we nailed 1/4 of those in the Garrett era. That’s not going to build success.

Since McCarthy if you give him a mulligan for his first year of coaching we’ve probably nailed 4/4. The thing is you need to do it for 5 straight years to be a real contender with rare exceptions.

I think we’re solid in round 1, terrible in round 2, and average beyond that.
I will agree with questionable 2nd rd picks, but they have found some gems in the later rds: Pollard, Brown, Wilson to name a few. Also, they are one of the best in signing top undrafted fa's.

I disagree.. Hitchens and Wilson were starting LBs for KC in their championship year. Amendola averaged 9 catches and 116 yards for the Pats in the playoffs during their 2017 Super Bowl year.. He was never "great" but I would stop well short of declaring him as "just along for the ride." He was a good player.. Not everybody can be a Hall of Famer.. This aint basketball..

heck no, the super bowls and playoff wins prove this. No one drafts better than us.

Those are 4 good categories.

Speaks a lot to our drafting ability considering we were garbage at the other 3 categories and still managed to crank out a 12-4 and 13-3 season.

FA is not an area where I think we have done well. Mediocre at best

That’s how the patriots did it for years. And when the player was ready to sign a contract. They would trade him for another first or second round pick. And they kept doing this over and over.

I don't know, but a few teams who have had less draft quality seem to have had more post season success over these past years.

I would trade worse drafting for more post season success and especially a Super Bowl trophy.

If we are so awesome at drafting, then why do we keep losing in the playoffs because we can't stop the run?

Drafting well is more than just taking some good players. There is a ton more to it than that.

Now, if we'd have taken Alim McNeil instead of thug Joseph, then you could start bragging. We beat Frisco in the playoffs w/ just that one little move. The player was there, he was not a secret, the need was there, but NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO, Jerry's got to take him some weird project CB. Frustration.

1st round picks on Taco Charlton (over TJ Watt) and Leighton Vander Esch, 2nd round picks on Trysten Hill, Jaylon Smith, Randy Gregory, Kelvin Joseph, 3rd rounders on Chaz Green, Neville Gallimore, Connor McGovern, Chauncey Golston, Nahshon Wright, Jalen Tolbert. 4th rounders on Charles Tapper, Damien Wilson, Ryan Switzer, Reggie Robinson, Josh Ball.

Does any team draft better than this one?
