That is a subject of conjecture. I don't think the O has changed at all. Different QB's, different reads.
The offense CAN'T change in the middle of the season.. however what is being called has definitely changed. We are seeing more 12 personnel with the QB under center and the backs in the deep set now.
27 of Pollard's 36 carries (75%) have come from under center.
45 of Zeke's 59 carries (76.3%) have come from under center.
Compare that to last season..
97 of 130 carries ( 74.6%) were under center for Pollard.
167 of 237 carries (70.4%) were under center for Zeke.
So a slight uptick for Pollard but a much larger percentage for Zeke. Bear in mind that the season numbers from last year are skewed by the number of blowout wins wherein the Cowboys were just lining up and handing off to run out the clock.. There have obviously been no blowouts so far this year.. yet the under center numbers are significantly higher..
Same with the passing game.. 29 of 102 pass attempts (28.4%) for Rush have been under center..
Last season Dak was 120 of 596 attempts (20.1%) under center.
The numbers tell the story.. They are using different formations and calling a different game for Rush.. The kicker, at least for me, is that they NEED to be calling this gameplan for Dak too. The pass/run ratio has been damn near 50/50. Last year it was 56/44. And again, last year's run numbers are inflated because of the 5 or 6 blowouts.
I won't even bother to give the splits between the Tampa game compared to these last three.. I will offer this.. Dak attempted 4 passes from under center against Tampa.. Not even 15%.
