That reminds me of a story - I used to work doing market research, I would design and program surveys. We used to do a bunch of Spanish stuff -- our terminal computers didn't recognize the ñ, so it all came up as n.

Some of the folks working for us were not so smart (and several were kinda faking knowing Spanish to make more $$).

Over and over throughout the day, you would here "Cuantos anos tienes?"

The point is, you don't know that he isn't doing exactly that. It's all speculation.

Doesn't make an ounce of sense to go about hiring the staff for the HC. Anyone that has ever worked in an organization should know how things end up working. Guys that are brought in by the HC will likely feel more loyalty towards him. Guys brought in by Jerry or Garrett will probably have a stronger link with them. Sure, you may be able to make it work, but it's not an ideal situation. It's what causes undermining to happen in the first place. People can scoff at this, but it is a potentially real problem that can be averted rather easily, but it's up to the man at the top.

Sorry, I don't agree with this. It happens all the time in the NFL that teams present HCs with staff. I think this is a drum that has been beaten to death and was never in tune to begin with.

Do I think Capers is better than Stewart? Of course. I also wonder why you need Capers when you have Wade. How many chiefs are necessary?

Every forum dedicated to a team is bound to have a strong majority who back the team. Exceptions would be very rare.

This forum allows both viewpoints. I know several where if you preach against the feelings of the staff (who are chosen often because they do agree with everything each other say) you're gone.

rosy pic only? you new here? wanting someone to stop being a broken record on a topic that won't change is far from wanting rosy posts all around. this is not one extreme or the other but more what happens in between that gets pushed to one extreme or the other. you don't have to be all rosey at all, i just wish you'd stop the constant barrage of jabs and slaps to jones. tone it down 50% and we've made huge progress.

NOW - IF WE KNEW WADE was going to be here and IF JASON GARRETT was not being groomed - the traditional way you suggest would be fine and more the norm. but he's not. jones is trying to WIN TODAY as well as build for tomorrow. like i said, if he was letting wade call all the shots i can see you mad because wade won't be here very long so why does he get such power for a lame duck coach.

this is the part that can contribute to the "most annoying" aspect.

none of us know what's going on behind closed doors. (great, now i've got old country on my mind) yet some people will make their own assumptions and call them "reality" regardless of what could be reality and allow no room for other "realities" because they *WANT* to believe the worst in someone.

when people make speculation fact to suit their needs, it's highly annoying.

we can agree to disagree theogt. Bottom line is this: we weren't good enough AS A TEAM to get past a team we spanked twice earlier in the year. If I'm still sick about it I can imagine how JJ is feeling.......Capers will get hired in some capacity IMO because this is setting up as Garrett's staff anyway. Everyone with a brain knows Wade was brought in to fulfill his 2 yr. deal and 2 yr. deal only: that was solidified when he went out in the first round and Red was courted by Baltimore and ATL. and JJ had to pay 3 mil to keep him. BTW: I'm in the "who gives a crap" camp regarding JJ calling the shots. Of course he's neutered Wade, but he's getting paid handsomely for that neutering (3mil) and it's not being done, maliciously but to WIN, which he did not do when it truly counted in the playoffs this season. All the rest of this is window dressing: never a dull moment indeed-"How 'BOUT those Cowboys?"

Why are so many people so wound-up about position coaches?

Based on historical trends, one can only arrive at the conclusion that the players should be at the epicenter of the witch hunt to determine why the Season ended so poorly and abruptly.

Head Coaches have brought in Assistant Coaches from far and wide. Whether they were garrulous, laconic, fiery or a taciturn, they, along with their Head Coaches failed to have any type of impact on the bottom line, which was to finish the season strong and win a Playoff Game.

Focusing on position coaches is easy. Focusing on the attitudes and type of players on the current roster is the more painful option.

Mick, please tone it down...use words that I can understand, OK?

Fortunately for Cowboys Nation, you're not in his shoes. There are a lot of other teams you could try for though.

It's amusing the way some posters here still dislike acknowledging that because Jones makes the investment and assumes the risk (financially and otherwise), they're his moves to make. All the other speculation may be entertaining and even therapeutic in some sense, but it's otherwise useless as far as getting a result that some people will be happy with. It's the result on the field that matters in the end, and it will be many months before we can get back to that.

And the "if you don't like the post.." argument? A convenient out, as old and gray as the Raiders' owner.

For my part, I'm not that fond of Jones' persona, but you only have to look as far as Snyder and Davis for alternatives. We aren't at that point yet, and even if we head down that road, there's nothing we can do but vote with our pockets.

Meh, I'll wait for the hire to be done before I really go ballistic, but this is all starting to stink to high heaven. It's looking like Jerry almost had to make some kind of guarantee to Garrett when they met after Baltimore offered him the job.

Some have said Wade has no self-respect if he lets this happen. What do you do, quit on a three million dollar job? How many people would do that? If Jerry is trying to force something, I'd make him fire me before I'd quit after one year.

This is just crazy. The Red Swaddled One better be damn good if this all shakes out the way it looks to be heading.
