I can't believe Wade wouldn't have taken that approach last year. I'm going to assume that the reason he hired Stewart for the DC position in the first place is because he thought he was the right man for the job and fully capable of handling all duties.
maybe he just thought that Stewart was the right man to help communicate to the players his version of the 3-4, which was different than any 3-4 that they played previously? and that the team he was implementing the changes, wasn't some rebuilding team, but a playoff contender?
I think that's more likely
here's an analogy for you inman, since I know how much you like those
I'm going to college right now, and am taking a computer class, say my professor also highlights as a district manager for a computer firm, and let's say I'm his top student, and there's a new program being installed, since I know the program, and am very good at it, does that make me fully capable of leading his charges? no, it just makes me capable of helping to relate the intricacies of the program
Wade doesn't have a coaching tree, so it's quite possible that he was wrong in thinking that Stewart was qualified at this time, to run a defense

Capers is an excellent 3-4 coach as well. But we don't need him and Wade. Of course when Garrett takes over, Wade won't be here, which apparently is why Jerry is trying to bring in Capers. But it makes no sense right now, unless you just go ahead and get rid of Wade now and get on with implementing Jason as HC.
maybe Jerry it's just looking out for his investment, and one way is improving the D, while good, wasn't championship caliber?
it also applies to upping Garrett's salary to equal that of Wade's, he wanted to keep a high-scoring offense in place, by retaining that unit's coordinator

For better or worse, Jerry is back in total control making all the decisions. It's so obvious, I don't see why people are so insistent on denying it.
I think what most are trying to say is that Wade isn't exactly bending over everytime Jerry says something, as there is an example of Wade sticking to his guns on an issue which he believes to be right, when the owner insists otherwise, so Wade isn't just passively sitting there okay'ing every Jerry suggestion
