ice's cliff notes:

1. capers has not signed yet.
2. capers may be offered LB coach OR DC
3. if DC stewart could have his feelings hurt.
4. jones is calling all the shots and we're doomed again
5. retaliation to jones bashing
6. hos can't make funny characters on the screen
7. laugh at hos while making funny characters
8. hos called and can make characters now
9. jones is still meddlesome, always will be, and it's a factor that will forever be in the sides of forum posters everywhere.

I can't believe Wade wouldn't have taken that approach last year. I'm going to assume that the reason he hired Stewart for the DC position in the first place is because he thought he was the right man for the job and fully capable of handling all duties.

maybe he just thought that Stewart was the right man to help communicate to the players his version of the 3-4, which was different than any 3-4 that they played previously? and that the team he was implementing the changes, wasn't some rebuilding team, but a playoff contender?

I think that's more likely

here's an analogy for you inman, since I know how much you like those

I'm going to college right now, and am taking a computer class, say my professor also highlights as a district manager for a computer firm, and let's say I'm his top student, and there's a new program being installed, since I know the program, and am very good at it, does that make me fully capable of leading his charges? no, it just makes me capable of helping to relate the intricacies of the program

Wade doesn't have a coaching tree, so it's quite possible that he was wrong in thinking that Stewart was qualified at this time, to run a defense

Capers is an excellent 3-4 coach as well. But we don't need him and Wade. Of course when Garrett takes over, Wade won't be here, which apparently is why Jerry is trying to bring in Capers. But it makes no sense right now, unless you just go ahead and get rid of Wade now and get on with implementing Jason as HC.

maybe Jerry it's just looking out for his investment, and one way is improving the D, while good, wasn't championship caliber?

it also applies to upping Garrett's salary to equal that of Wade's, he wanted to keep a high-scoring offense in place, by retaining that unit's coordinator

For better or worse, Jerry is back in total control making all the decisions. It's so obvious, I don't see why people are so insistent on denying it.

I think what most are trying to say is that Wade isn't exactly bending over everytime Jerry says something, as there is an example of Wade sticking to his guns on an issue which he believes to be right, when the owner insists otherwise, so Wade isn't just passively sitting there okay'ing every Jerry suggestion

That's just it. I'm not saying it spells disaster. I'm just saying that it doesn't seem to make much sense to install the next coaching staff now. It seems rather obvious Jerry is behind many of these decisions. The thing is, that doesn't mean it won't work. What's funny is how so many seem to bend over backwards to try and claim Wade is calling all the shots, as if admitting it is actually Jerry or Garrett then there's a problem.

it makes alot of sense, so that when Wade leaves, which is right around the corner mind you, he only signed a 3-year deal, the transition to the next coach goes smoothly, and we're still contending, hopefully, w/ the same philosophy and principles that are already set in place, it's called continuity

we can also look at it like Jerry trying to improve the coaching staff of a team with much potential, who went 1 and done in the playoffs, so that they can go further next year, hell, if I've invested over 100 mil into something, I want that product to max out like a *****

you have a serious case of tunnel-vision, my friend, as there are 2 sides to every story and more than one way to look at things

Ok, a little off the Dom Capers topic, but this is to defend Wade not being a yes-man. I just got done watching the Campo press conference and Wade's responses to the questions about knowing Campo, why choosing him...etc did not seem like answers that were made up. I really think Wade is happy to have Campo, just like I think he'd be excited to bring Dom Capers on board as well. When you think about it this staff could sort of mirror Pittsburgh in that when Tomlin took over there was a solid staff in place, so no matter if it's Wade in 08 and Garrett in 09 both of these guys have to be excited about this staff and the potential of bringing Capers on board. Don't forget Campo drafted Roy and coached Henry in Cleveland and I think that's more important that trying to blame or defend the hiring of these assistants is to only concern yourself with their familiarity with the schemes or the players.
