Eagles fans are saying crap like, "You barely beat a journeyman backup."

These are the same dirtbags who booed when Donovan McNabb was drafted. The truth is this Gardner Minshew guy is very good. I think he'll end up starting somewhere.
I doubt these same fans had that point of view when the Eagles beat Cooper Rush.

When Rush was winning, many on here said he could start for other teams as well. Even for us.
More to do with that teams loaded on offense and schemes to help a QB be more successful much like Purdy over in SF,,noithig stellar about their stat lines but doubt they have the same success if they were on a bottom 16 teams with little weapons. Phillys OL and Offensive weapons are top 5 in the league. we got little effective pressure on GM with a pieced together backend, sure he moved the ball...hes nick foles 2.0 not bad but look what Foles did outside of Philly both times he left, pretty much nothing.

No. He’s not good. There’s a reason he doesn’t start. He’s been in the league for long enough. He is what he is. A backup. Just because he shredded this defense doesn’t mean he’s good. He’s not. You will see that if he plays again. Heck, we’ve faced him before and he did nothing. Yesterday was an indictment on this defense, not on that sorry qb.
1st off GM is not trash, like Foles he can play if you provide him those weapons around him.
Indictment on that philly OL, and all those weapons with little pressure applied that effected his throws... the defense was boom or bust but without those t/os we dont win the game.

Right, schemes are huge in the NFL.

I made a comment yesterday in the early games thread, I think it was in that thread.

Jets have 3 QB's, and get the same results, not a lot on offense. As the defense carries them.
SF is on the 3rd QB, and yet they keep winning, but they also have a great defenses. Where would they be without that defense. Or that offensive system.

Actually take the 6 QB's from both teams and flip them to the other team, how would they do. The NYJ QB's may not have as much success in SF, but they would not be as bad as in NY.
The SF QB's, would not be as good if in NY. However we only seen Lance in part of a game in horrible weather.

SF has a plug and play system, and Eagles pretty much close to that it seems. NYJ does not. SF QB's would not have as much success on most other teams.

actually, I remember seeing threads entitled, “ would we have beat the eagles with Dak?”. It was a legitimate question and because the game was still close in the 4th quarter, there was a very good chance we could have won it…….of course those were the days when the defense was holding teams to under 25 points or so.

Those were the days before Parsons was a full-time defensive end.

I think another reason he was glued on the edge today was because Sam Williams was also out.

Slay threw his coach and teammates under the bus on the 3rd and 30 play.

Our defense was without 5 starters, and he “shredded” them for fewer yards than our “below average” QB did to their “#1” defense.

This is his 4th year in the league. That is not "a long time." If Philly didn't lock him up multiple years he will start somewhere next season. Had the Jags not been in position to scoop up Lawrence he'd probably stayed the starter there.

I'm sure there are a lot of Eagle's fan checking themselves today after the way Minshew held down the QB spot. Minshew was on fire yesterday and I don't think Hurts could have played much better. Oh sure he might have run more, but with the speed of Parsons and Clark might have gotten himself injured before the playoffs if he tried to take off and run. Parsons would have elevated his game to another level after saying that MVP stuff abouts Hurts.

I'm sure it's just me, but, I though we had a "vanilla" offensive and defensive gameplan. We're planning on meeting them again this season and didn't want to put too much on tape.

Everyone hs been talking about the great running game the eagles have.... they have a great running game because they have a great running qb. Thats it.... yesterday their run game was relegated to straight up lining up and running and that got them a whopping 3 ypc and 87 whole yards... hardy dominating. It is hurts read options that open up holes for backs, and then when the qb runs for60 yards on 6 carries, all of the sudden the team is hitting 160 plus yards per game........

This is accurate. Thanks for the good post. I honestly don't see anyone in the NFC beating the 49ers out of the playoffs, not us, not the Eagles, not the Vikings, etc. I suspect we'll end up with a 9ers/Bills or a 9ers/Chiefs Super Bowl. However, those AFC teams match up better with the 49ers and will have a shot at knocking them off. A shot, not a shoe-in.

Minshew, and Hurts for that matter, don’t play defense. What is the excuse on that side of the ball?

The exact same thing happens when we lose, score 34, but our defense gives up 40 and a guy payed to catch a football can’t make a routine 8 yard catch. I think a bunch of Dallas fans probably wrote that on the Philly board

here we go with this ridiculous stuff. Vanilla? So that pitch to turpin who then tossed back to Dak.... by the way Gallup was big time open on that play.... but that play was vanilla?
