Ed Werder: Reducing Daks role in the offense!

So juvenile...

If a run oriented offense is what's wanted, go get a coach who does that. Mike passes the ball, it's not in his DNA to run.

Romo, Romo, Romo, Romo, Romo, Romo, Romo, Romo, Romo, Romo, Romo, Romo, !!!!!
I’ll admit I’m a big Romo fan. The guy earned his way onto the team in an old school way under an old school coach, didn’t get everything handed to him on a silver platter, and didn’t get every excuse made for him. No one on the team ever thought the offense was too complicated for him and had the be dumbed down, only that he was trying to do too much to compensate for the lack elsewhere. When your GM says stupid stuff like “We don’t need an offensive line because we have Romo” and Captain Carrot as coach for practically a decade of your professional football life, nothing more needs to be said about organizational quality. Also, Romo having a good running game and blocking line in 2014 showed just how good he could be. There’s always a synergistic relationship between QB play and the running game. Defenses have to fear both the threat of the running game and the passing game.

Yeah, can't trust the highest paid NFL player to do his job. No one should expect him to actually carry the team or anything.
Jerry will require Dak to assist the equipment manager and part time field maintenance to try and recover some of his over payment.

Fantastic read. Just absolutely dead on.

The Cowboys and Dak are married. There will be no divorce. Forget his salary. How do you win with him? Well, a well rounded offense that includes a strong run game and play action. Ben Johnson would be perfect for Dallas if Booger doesn't interfere too much. At least on offense. Need to find a good DC for him. Regardless, good to see that the local press is thinking and aiming high. Put some pressure on Jerry.

Almost like Jacobs, Henry or Barkley would’ve helped. This FO is dysfunctional **.

Cowboys 47-11 when Dak throws 32 or less times.

They are 29-34 when he throws more than 32 times.

Dak throws an average of 38.7 times in losses. He throws an average of 31.7 times in wins.

I get that these numbers are influenced by score differential. Logically, teams throw more when they are losing because they are trying to catch up. However, so far this season NFL teams have passed a total of 8300 times in the first half, 8360 times in the 2nd half. Previous seasons follow this pattern, 47% to 49% of all NFL passes were thrown in the first half.

For his career, Dak has passed 2235 times in the first half, 1895 times in the 2nd half. This means he did 54.1% of his passing in the 1st half.

These numbers have been greatly influenced by the fact that the Cowboys did almost nothing to rebuild the RB squad once Zeke left the first time. in 2022 the Cowboys passed more than they ran the ball for the 1st time since 2015.

Dak is not a gunslinger despite all efforts to turn him into one. That is not how the Cowboys can win.

The Cowboys must limit Dak's passing by upgrading their running attack and letting the defense dictate the outcome of the game.

I know a good way to reduce his role within the offense - cut him.
Are you kidding me? Have you seen the excuses and mental gymnastics some fans and Jerry have talked about regarding the importance of Zeke? They can even cut a RB that should've retired 2 years ago.

Imagine the tears and cries if Dak was cut lol. Watch how bad these fans n media are going to talk about the OL, WRs, RBs, Defense and Offensive scheme n Coaching Staff if QB1 struggles.

A+ research.
I agree, these guys need to help Dak out and get a viable running game.

The closer the Cowboys offensive scheme can get Dak to ‘window dressing’ - the more successful that scheme is apt to be.

Imagine giving a guy the richest contract in the history of the NFL and then a year later you have to figure out how to use him less?
Where does this rank, paying Dak this contract, in order of Jerry's dumbest moves? Top 3? Jimmy Johnson is #1, Galloway trade #2 and then this?
