Excuse me, rule of 51.

The 'Rule of 51' stipulates that only the top 51 player salaries for a team count against the salary cap in the offseason.

Yes and your point being. Still doesn't stop you from having more than 51 players

Point being you were WRONG Fonzie, they do have to be under the cap before the start of the season.

When are teams required to be under the salary cap?

Prior to the beginning of the new league year. For 2013, it is Tuesday, March 12 at 4PM Eastern.

Yes but you can then be over the cap until the start of the season as long as your top 51 players are at the cap. We can cut Connor or vickers and sign Winston and cut free as a iune 1st. We will still be under cap after June 1st.

Yes but after that they can go over until right before the first game when they have to be back down to the cap

We can still sign Winston now and then work to get under the cap by the 12th by cutting Connor, vickers or extent romo

That is not what you were telling the other poster. You were giving him bad info so I corrected it. Top 51 is all the top cap hits anyway.

Winston didn't play very well in KC. Just because people have heard of him doesn't make him above average. That's how we end up with terrible OL in the pro bowl like Saturday and Pouncey.

Dallas' decision comes down to money. Either they keep Free or go cheaper with Parnell. One of those two will be starting at RT.

He gave up 3 sacks ALL SEASON LONG, what are you talking about he didnt play great.

Free gives that up per game.

Because vickers sucked at FB last year and his release will save over 1 million. Not worth that money.

kind hard to be a good FB when the linemen in front of you can't open a hole for ****.

No I think you just understood it wrong. We can sign Winston now no problem. Their are moves we cab make to get back under the cap by the 12th. Then we can sign other players after the 12th and go over the cap and cut free as June 1st we can be back under the cap.
Also most contract are set up as minor cap hits in the first year.

It's a easy three step process

Step 1 sign Winston

Step 2 extend romo or sign Spencer long term to get under the cap by March 12

Step 3 cut Free as a June 1st cap cut

No, because Manwiththeplan even commented about it above. You were giving bad info about not needing to be under the cap until the start of the season.

Same thing you said the season starts march 12th, you have to be under on the 12th then you can go over again as ling as you under by the first game which is correct I just didn't bother to mention your top 51 guys have to be under the cap, which they still would be. Thats how teams have 80 plus players in camp.

If they release Connor today it would be a 3 million cap savings. Winston first year with KC was only a 2.5 million cap hit.

I would release Connor in a heart beat and sign Winston to a similar contract KC had with him

It's just missing,"He's my QB"

That aside he's right, you shouldn't cheer that your qb got hurt because you don't want him out there.
