Eric Winston Released by Chiefs

They are not going to sign him because he played for the "U". Haven't you guys noticed that since Jimmy left we have not drafted or looked at any free agents from the University of Miami? Another way of Jerry sticking it to Jimmy!

That's good.

BTW, which ones have we passed on?

I think that's a cop out, really.

What they've thought of OL in the past 5 years or so hasn't exactly been stellar.

I'm not sure why he was cut but this is a move that couldn't have been available at a better time.

Combo a guard in the mix and this OL could be entirely different.

A cop out?

Just because there other teams in the NFL with holes on their offensive line and more cap space than the Cowboys have?

I prefer to call it reality.

Not sure I'm seeing the jump from the team thinking highly of Parnell and not making an effort to cap space.

Parnell is just part of the equation.

Heck the Cowboys could make an attempt to sign him, miss out due to either a lack of cap space or a better deal offered by a competitor and we as fans may not even know about it.

i think parnell is a huge part of the equation. if they think he can play, then why sign a high dollar vet to a long term deal and just let parnell walk. i don't know what the staff thinks of parnell but if they think he is a viable starter then signing a vet to a short term deal as insurance and the swing man is a smart move. but it all comes down to what they think of parnell

Yes which is what we did with Newman.

If we keep free and to not go after Winston, I will never understand Jerry

This must mean you understand him now, which means you must be the only man who understands women. You could get rich writing a book on how to understand either one if them.

The Houston Chronicle's John McClain can't see the Texans signing free agent RT Eric Winston.
"I don't see them re-signing Eric," said McClain. "I don't see them paying any [free agent] the kind of money Winston can get." The Texans could certainly use an upgrade over Derek Newton on the right side, but McClain expects the team to use one of their "premium" draft picks on a tackle in the draft. Mar 7 - 1:43 PM

And it just makes too much sense for us to sign him.......;)
Would love to have him.
Unless we have another huge flurry of contract extensions and alterations in a very short time frame, it's not really an option though.

I'd wouldn't say "it'll never happen" though.

Alot of posters don't take into consideration that Player A, B or C might not want to play with the Cowboys. Then blame Jerry if they don't sign here..

Why in the world would anyone not want to wear the star? :bang2:

If only the world worked that way.

I don't see this happening at all unless a player wants to play for his hometown and then chooses that team. Players dream of playing for the Boys, its football mecca. Always on primetime, tons of attention, new stadium, rich history, and a owner who takes damn good care of his players. Trust and believe, players want to wear the STAR.

We could have got this guy for a 7th round pick next year, since the Chiefs could get nothing for him and had to release him. Parnell looked like a backup turnstile to me last year, and Free is a starting turnstile. I don't see how we could pass this guy up.

Looks like the Eagles are ready to back the money truck up for this guy.

You assume the Chiefs bothered to ask any teams if there was interest for a trade.
