I don't think Dez is bright enough to realize the team has all the leverage.

He's got to be the Now and Future of the Cowboys, it's a no brainer for the JJ and company to Pay him what he's worth, last thing we need is to be Defending against this man!
that's JJs boy he's invested quite a bit in him from the start and stood by him thru the turbulence, I really think he's a keeper, it's all about Bargaining hold outs...

Dez is a great WR, but after this year his price has dropped. I'd give him no more then 10-12 million a year.

I hope we can get it done, but I wouldn't be surprised if he's asking for 50 million guaranteed. I know a lot of people here had a huge problem for making our franchise QB a 100 million dollar man, so I'm sure they'll have that same outrage for a player who's significantly less valuable in terms of W/L, right?

I can't fault Dez for wanting his payday, but even after last week I still believe that if his contract is going to cripple our ability to sign other players, then I don't think he's worth it.

It's already perceived in the media as being a potentially bad situation between Dez and management...

If he dominates and has a great performance in the playoffs, then I say pay him. If he has his "flash in the pan" moment against the Jags and then disappears for a few games...Then let him walk.

exactly, is it better for the Cowboys to sign, RoMac, Murray and other players or just DEZ to huge multi-year contract...Love the player but the team is more than one player.....Look at the way Pittsburgh handled the Mike Wallace contract...let him walk and signed Antonio Brown without missing a beat,...Cowboys would miss DEZ, we will miss Dez, but Dez is replaceable ...next man up

Cleveland has two 1st round picks?

Hope so because it wasn't JayZ reppin Jeter......he represented Cano and well, lets just say the guy who made a yankee hat more famous than a yankee king(which his ugly *** never did) just screwed over his team.

Actually its, "I made a yankee hat more famous than a yankee can" lol
He CANNOT mean that line. He knows he dont.

Cano was going to CASH OUT anyway but I get your point

Dez needs to do what is best and that is....DO NOT TALK...about the contract... Let his agent handle it or it will get ugly quickly. The more Dez talks the worse it will be....and most likely less money. His agent gets paid to negotiate not play football.....Dez job is to play football ...not negotiate contracts.......

Nah... its actually smart to talk. Jeter displayed his dislike for what was being talked about or allegedly talked about regarding negotiations.
Worked fine.

Slap him with the tag and trade him. I very much fear the recent moves he has made and the way he has played without Romo.

I dont think Dez is even close to the maturity level of Jete. What was he expecting when he switched agents....

You heard Rapaport.....Cowboys are very concerned about Dez, Police where called for a B&E and Bryant wasn't even there. I mean who calls the police when someone breaks into your house????

This is all very frightening to us all!!!! Dez should be ashamed, smh

Negotiations should be held in the privacy of the conference room. Making it public through the press is more about posturing than honest bargaining when all is said and done. It's a seedy aspect of negotiating and lacks the class of bargaining in good faith. I strongly dislike seeing it handled in that manner by either side.

Amazing Cowboys news when they are on a bye. Always have to be talked about. America's team for better or worse.

I don't think Dez is bright enough to realize the team has all the leverage.

The team almost always has all the leverage. Dez is saying nothing different than you hear from most free agents.

And what did he say that was so egregious?

He said respect is money. Money is respect. For professional athletes that's often true.

Furthermore I think he sent an actual message if you can pick up on nuance. He mentioned not holding out his Rookie year. I think he holds out on the Franchise tag. The team couldn't even fine him because he wouldn't be under contract.

Not that I expect this to get there but this assumption that Dez and his team are morons is comical.
