That's what we said about Ware, and now people like you are whining about a lack of pass rush on the defense, while Ware is on his way to the Super Bowl. One franchise gets it, the other is a fraud.

On his way to the Super Bowl? Hope they don't have to face the Patriots on the road. Or it won't be pretty.

Where was this pass rush last year? Non existent. Oh wait, you mean since he has much better talent around him and is not doubled on every single play and is not even the best player on the line, he looks better? No way!!

I still expect the two sides to reach a deal. The Cowboys have negotiated with Tom Condon before, and they likely will again. The fact that Roc Nation agreed to a deal with CAA for their negotiations really tells that they are serious about being a legitimate agency and not something more like Grand Master P back in the early 2000s.

Let him finish the season on his rookie contract. Let's see how he plays and if he comes up big in upcoming clutch games and hopefully the playoffs, etc. I love Dez as a player but have concerns how he disappears often. His sideline rants, which we've seen many times are a concern too. How would he react if JJ broke the bank to show his uhum "loyalty", I mean pay him what he's worth at the expense of surrounding him with needed talent to win. How often would he rant then? He is a powder keg that adds huge trust issues and risk. No hurry, make him earn it when it counts and then try and resign. If his demands are too high and it can't be done, franchise him. If he pouts under a franchise tag, the league will see and his value will plummet, both contract and endorsement wise. I believe JJ holds the cards, not Dez and his new team of agents. I hope JJ learned from his past mistakes on this one because many future years of being able to aquire and retain talent are at risk.

I agree with waiting... Dez keeps letting his emotions get in the way of concentrating on football and letting
his agent negotiate. He keeps making the mistake of letting his words betray him in the press. He's still
far away from a Michael Irvin and I for one would not break the bank for him. We can always franchise him
for two more seasons but I would not commit tons of guaranteed money to him. Just like RB's we can always
draft another WR if needed.

first, I want dez on the team, period
second...it cannot be cost-prohibitive to the franchise continuing to move forward

I feel they will get something done with this mega-star

Right Said Fredd!

Hope this doesn't turn out to be Emmitt contract nonsense. Not with holdout but with Jerry strategy!

The team almost always has all the leverage. Dez is saying nothing different than you hear from most free agents.

And what did he say that was so egregious?

He said respect is money. Money is respect. For professional athletes that's often true.

Furthermore I think he sent an actual message if you can pick up on nuance. He mentioned not holding out his Rookie year. I think he holds out on the Franchise tag. The team couldn't even fine him because he wouldn't be under contract.

Not that I expect this to get there but this assumption that Dez and his team are morons is comical.

If he said it directly to the team, no problem. To say it to the public is just wrong.

I get Dez. Its about r-e-s-p-e-c-t. Without respect, you can't go out and purchase the envy from others you so desire. If i'm out in public and I see Dez driving a Ford Explorer, I immediately would have less respect for him and no envy. Now, if he pulls up in a 300k Bentley..............then damm! Its a whole different ballgame. My respect immediately starts to go up as my eyes fill with envy. Dez sees the envy and he then knows that he is indeed respected.

I'm not sure about the whole car analogy thing. Just personally speaking I don't care if they get to places on a tricycle just do your job & help the team win.

I think Romo gets respect because he plays hurt. Not just a little hurt but pretty serious hurt. That is the type of thing that shows me as a fan that he wants to win.

Just my take on things. Dez is a great receiver. He's not the best. He doesn't deserve to be paid as the best. Hopefully they can arrive at a price that he's happy with & the team can live with.

That's funny. I thought @atlantacowboy was mocking Dez.

My post is dripping in sarcasm. Money does not equal respect. Dez is already respected. He just doesn't realize it.

"Don't test my loyalty".................really Dez, you are going there.

Do you like playing with Murray?.......................because if we break the bank so you can feel "respected" then there probably is not enough left over for Murray............hope you can beat the double teams when a rookie is starting at HB for us next season bro.

According to CZ we can plug anybody in at RB behind this offensive line. It's not the players job to take less money so the team can sign other player. The Jones boys write the checks, thats their job to figure it out.

Wonder what Dez would play like if he was in Oakland?, Cleveland? Buffalo? He has it GOOD in Dallas,,,a franchise QB throwing to him, a good offense and a fan base that loves him.....He wants to walk,,,,,keep walking.....he will show his Disrespect towards the Fans, and the Star....its about championships....not breaking the bank and putting the team in Salary Cap hell. The Jones have done him right so far, don't blow a good gig.....

Over the top a bit, but Rock Nation could prove to be the end of Dez in Dallas....

Cleveland's not bad right now. They may have actually figured it out.
