Every year is different this list has no bearing on how this years draft will work out. The money JPP is gonna want I don't believe will fit in Dallas budget, especially for a player that has been inconsistent this year.

Every is that same in that if you are a gifted pass rusher and is likely to be able to contribute immediately , given that they are such a commodity you will get drafted within the first 20 picks.

If we want an impact player at DE we either need to be aggressive and trade up or play russian roulette with the talent available

People keep saying we need to do with the DL what we did with the OL. Keep in mind we drafted starters at OC and OG VERY high for those positions. Centers dont often go in round 1 and OGs dont often go in the top 20

You cant expect the same blueprint to work

Jerry Hughes, Colts

These are the pass rushers taken between picks 24 and 32, where we will be picking. The only player on this list thats been a difference maker for the team that drafted him is Cam Jordan although Hughes has been effective with Buffalo

Jerry Hughes was buried behind Dwight Freeney and Robert Mathis in Indianapolis.

He barely played his first two seasons.

Hughes started getting snaps in his third season and he was immediately productive as a a pass rusher.

I know some want to give a lot of the credit for Hughes' success with Buffalo to his talented DL teammates, but he still has to face LTs every week.

Even factoring Hughes as a hit, its still a bad percentage in that range. You have hits, guys like Hali, Spencer, Mathews all went in that range. But the percentages are too bad to lock into that as a main push to fixing the defense.

Frankly i think we need to be aggressive in either or both FA and the draft to fix the defense.

JPP signing would be huge for this team, to have a actual pass rushing presence would Improve others along our D-line just by him being that threat Coordinators have to plan against.

The other questions would be if we stick with Melton or go after Pea from Chicago?

JPP - Crawford - Pea - Mincy/Lawrence
Would be a nice D-Line to build around, backed by
Hitchens - Rolando - Lee

I think we'd have a pretty deadly Front 7 boys, your thoughts?

While also still having the Draft to boost our Team even more.

If it was up to me, I would give Sheard a 1 year deal and either trade up to around 20 to take a talented pass rusher or trade out of the first, pick up and extra mid rounder and pick from what could be a sweet spot in the second at DE. All depending on what the trade market is giving me

Id go with Paea. Melton is redundant with Crawford IMO and Paea gives us more of a power player

Late first round does appear to be shaky when going after an edge rusher.

I expect the team will do its best to cover as many holes as possible during free agency.

How aggressive Dallas can be will depend on whether Dez Bryant gets his long term deal with a lower cap hit next year, say $6M, or if $13M gets tied up by the franchise tag.

The Cowboys can add two premium free agent contracts with the $7M saved by avoiding the tag.

That cold be Rolando McClain and a free agent DE.

My question is McClain going be looking for a long term deal or a shorter one. If he is really commited and given his age, play and ceiling he may be smart to resign for one year as a solid 2015 could mean 15 million guarenteed more then what he may get this year.

What are the odds paying McClain winds up more of a 2016 thing then a 2015

I definitely would want to have a team option in the second year of the contract, just like with Henry Melton.

It'd be for at least 6 years in order to allow for a restructure if the team option is picked up in 2016.

It'd be close money wise to Seal Lee ($42M with a max value of $51M if all playing time incentives are hit).

Rolando McClain wants to be here, I hope that makes negotiations a tad easier.

Have you watched Paea play or did you come up with his name because he played for Marinelli in the past?

Leary and Fred pushed him around often in that game. Fred had the poor guys feet off the ground on one play.

Since so many here have discussed JPP to fill a need at DE I'm putting this in the Fan Zone instead of the NFL Zone. Discuss if you like.

Don't want him
Sounds like the epitome of me first and all about the money
Both things I think Garrett has tried to get rid of

Can't say I disagree much. Depends on why he has been inconsistent and if injury how likely is he to stay healthy. I think it's a risk.

Suh has already proven that he kept playing at a high level after getting a huge 2nd contract. This will be JPP's first chance to get a 2nd contract.

Suh is still playing off of his rookie contract. His deal has been re-worked a couple of times to push money around, but he has not got a second contract yet.

Something about JPP just rubs me the wrong way. He's way more in love with the money than with the game. He had one great season, everyone told him a superstar and then he promptly little else till it was time to get paid.

I'd definitely rather Suh, at least the guy plays angry. You know he's not thinking of the money on the field.

I say NO to big money FA's. JPP is a good player, but not worth what he thinks he can bring. Let some other team overpay him.
