Suh is still playing off of his rookie contract. His deal has been re-worked a couple of times to push money around, but he has not got a second contract yet.

You're correct. His rookie contract was so large that I forget that it was a rookie contract.

8/3/2010: Signed a five-year, $60 million contract. The deal contains $40 million guaranteed. Another $8 million is available in "not likely to be earned" incentives. An annual $125,000 workout bonus is available in years three through five. The Lions paid Suh an additional $11.52 million "signing" bonus in the 2013 offseason. 2014: $11.55 million, 2015: $3.505 million (Voidable Year), 2016: Free Agent

No thanks. Tyron made him his *****. This guy will be sorely disappointed at his market value.

Probably goes to the Commanders...they love paying players from division rivals

"I think I am worth a lot of money," Pierre-Paul said

cue the likely end of our interest. Although he is younger than Suh and both will likely demand $100 million contracts. I think DTs can generally play at a higher level longer than DEs.
Personally, I'd prefer a tier 2 FA along the DL and at CB and then using our early draft picks on DL guys like Dupree/Orchard/Calhoun and/or Bennett/Brown/etc.

I wouldn't mind Hardy who may be more inclined to take a shorter contract and less money to prove his worth. I can see him as a 1 yr deal type of guy. Both players are big name players, but the difference is Hardy has something to prove on the field.

He's simply not that good. Maybe at one time, but not now. Bad attitude, injury prone AND expensive.

I like this idea. I prefer to draft. I think we are likely ok at DT although we can get better. We need at least one DE who can rush the passer. Not counting Lawrence out but his injury set back the evaluation process a year. If we knew or thought we knew what he is then we could spend on other priorities.

We need CB(s). S to compete and backup. Coverage LBer. At the least.

Give me a name

Oh, come on. Name ten high priced FAs and you'll find we didn't even bother to look. I want a BB512 but I don't look because I can't afford it and more importantly my wife would kill me.

If they switch back to the 4-3, which is a good possibility with Haslett likely to be fired, you can all but guarantee that signing.

Please pass he is done and never will be the same. A one year wonder.

Another article, this one trying to ballpark what JPP is worth...

http://www.nj.com/giants/index.ssf/2014/12/what_is_giants_defensive_end_jason_pierre-paul_worth.html

The Likely Scenario: Michael Johnson money

Michael Johnson was an excellent run-stuffing defensive end for the Cincinnati Bengals. He had one double-digit sack season under his belt when he hit free agency earlier this year.

Johnson had just turned 27 and received a five-year, $43 million deal ($8.6 million per year) with $23 million guaranteed from Tampa Bay Bucs. This is likely closer to where Pierre-Paul fits in at this point of his career.

The $8-10 million range appears the most likely scenario for Pierre-Paul. The $12 million range could be an option if he finishes this season strong.

Honestly, I think he has a higher ceiling than Johnson and it's probably more in the $12 million range. There are far worse bets to place in free agency but I worry that he's a bit like Marcellus Wiley.

It will be interesting to see if the team has moved away from the line of thinking they need a single guy who commands attention and makes surrounding guys better or if they prefer the route of a strong rotation. I think it's the latter but trading 2nd and 3rd rounders to move up and take Lawrence might suggest otherwise.

But if we don't sign JPP, I'll be glad to see him leave NY. He's a much better all-around player than some give him credit for.

Jean Pierre Paul just won't be going anywhere from New York. They are siting upon a very strong cap picture for next season, and will probably cut some high dollar demands and veterans as well. That will give them a large balance to work with this up and coming off season. In what proved out a mediocre overall division, the Giants will likely be a large purchaser in the upcoming market.

Their team face will change quite a bit this next season, as the competition between NFC East teams will be brought to the forefront in GM directions for their respective teams.
