ESPN's Chris Mortensen reports that Boldin Asks For Trade

I like Boldin, but his knees, ankles and feet scare me. He continually has problems with them.

I would give a first, but the Cardinals won't take that. They would ask for 2 #1.

Roy Williams and a bit of patience guys!

The Cardinals arnt going to trade Boldin, but if they by some miracle did decide to, they sure arnt trading him to us

pipe dream folks

David

Yeah, and the Eagles, in our division, would never see us acquire #81.

Because the Bidwell's hate the Cowboys and it'd be another PR disaster for them to trade one of their best (and most popular) players to the team right next door...you know, the team that helped them be the only sell out they had yr after yr because our fans pakced their place

David

Yeah they hate us. He's not their most popular. It ain't Cowboy fans that are selling them out anymore. Lived there for 10 years.

Boldin will remain a Cardinal this year, and in the offseason, they will find a way to resign him.

I agree. Boldin will do a lot of moaning and groaning about getting traded but I don't think the Cards will let him go and I would expect he will get the contract he wants next off-season

They'd want more than our #1, because it's like a high #2 anyway. They'd probably want a 1 and a 3 which is too high for someone with his injury history. It won't happen guys.

Chances are they will want 2 1st rd pick.

Agreed.

I would certainly give up a #1 for him but if you think we're going to have enough to out bid Philly then you're dreaming. Philly can give up a 1 and Sheppard if they really wanted to in order to get him. They can offer far more than we can or will offer for him.

I'd love to see him here but I doubt, very seriously, that we see him in Dallas.

I want this guy badly. But I want to keep him from going to Philly even more.

if I played for the cards i would want out too:D , but on the real note I want him here bad also I just don't believe it would happend.

bobby carpenter, Isaiah Stanback(assuming they want a WR back in the deal) and a 2nd round pick sounds about right.

His injuries do put a scare in you.

Its funny... I read your post and I thought.... you could give the Cardinals 3 high first rounders every year for 5 years and they still would suck. lol

I dont see ANY team giving up 2 #1's for him.

And I don't see the Cards looking to trade him. I think the Cards have every intention of keeping Boldin. Regardless of the posturing that Boldin is currently doing. It would not be the 1st time a player demanded a trade and ended up staying put once the team gave him a contract to his liking.

Yeah they are pulling a "Marvin" on Bolden :laugh2:

They took care of Fitzgerald and I think they will take care of Bolden as well it just will not happen until next off-season and I think Bolden is professional enough of a player to go out and give his best.

The track record for first round WRs is 50/50 at best. To get a certified elite one for sure is well worth the pick.

If AZ is stupid enough to screw this up it is a no brainer IMO.

This is what most seem to be missing -- just based on recollection, I would have to guess that WR is one of the positions that has the highest rate of high-round busts. So often, highly touted college receivers don't transition well to the NFL, for whatever reason. Detroit obviously knows this all too well, and while it remains to be seen, Washington might be the victims of this in due time because of this year's draft. And vice versa. You see relative unknowns making big names for themselves once they get to the professional level.

Because of this, taking a WR in the first round is an incredibly risky proposition at best. I agree, trading a first rounder for Boldin is a no-brainer. He is fast, he is physical (and built to take a lot of punishment), he has been incredibly productive at this level.

Unfortunately, Philly has a lot to offer. However, not as much as I had originally thought. I thought the whole Shaun Andrews thing was because of contract issues, when it turns out it was depression issues. Doesn't sound like the Eagles have any desire to trade the guy (especially with his organization-friendly contract) and his tradeability might have taken a hit with his depression diagnosis anyways. But their first rounder is likely to be a higher first-rounder than ours, and I think Arizona would project that as well.

So what do we do to sweeten the pot? Give up multiple picks, including a first rounder? Give away a younger player or two, along with a first rounder?

I'd be willing to give...

a first rounder
Roy Williams

But unfortunately, I think the Eagles might be willing to offer a higher first rounder and Lito Sheppard, which would trump our offer above. So we'd have to do even better.

Nowadays that is a risky move.
Going out on the field with little insurance.

I wouldnt do it. I didnt always think that way. But now I know why they do it. If I am making a 1/3 of what the other guy is making but I could be making $10 mil or so a year. I would sit out.

Absolutely

He is under contract right now so either plays and gets paid or he sits and pays the Cardinals as he would be facing hefty fines each week he misses. It also does not help you in the long run as you are looking for the big contract next season be it by the Cards or someone else. Putting up big numbers makes it easier to make case for getting the big payday. He did go to camp and is not planning on sitting out and as I said I think the guy is professional enough to go out and perform to his ability
