Our biggest weakness on defense so far has been our inability to keep both starting corners healthy.

Yes but lets not focus on injuries. With all starters on the field, the defenses biggest weakness is the coverage ability of the safeties. If that isn't the case, what is it? Do we not have a weakness?

Neither Hamlin or RW are thought of as good coverage safeties and this will continue to show up when we play good quarterbacks. Both have a tendency to get beat deep. This was Hamlins rap at Seattle.

anyone see the hit roy placed on jacobs in the second half. since jacobs is so huge it didnt really look that bad.. but he snaped jacobs head straight back. he didnt seem to effective after that like he had lost his confidence. along with the defensive adjustments . yet sometimes thats impact enough taking people out of games with big hits, messing with heads ect ect . if he had hit westbrook or someone like that the hit wouldve been a highlight reel play.
roy hit basically a defenseless player. jacobs had his legs wrapped up by i think akin. why can't you people just see that Roy is not what he used to be and is now overrated. it really pains me to say this after he was so good and i wasted 80 bucks on his jersey.:(

How can you hate a player so much that plays for your team. Here we are sitting at 8-1, with the #1 defense in the Nfc, the guy is having a great year as far as tackles, int and Pdef. He has given up 2 TD in 9 games. He is a major part of why we haven't allowed a 100 yd rusher this season. He has played every down for this #1 defense at 2 positions and guys have the balls to complain about his play. Are we that spoiled?

I understand he has problems in coverage but they all do. Roy is the only player we have to play 2 positions at a whim. Don't you guys realise how much of a bonus that is? I am not trying to say Roy is all world, he hasn't been as great like his first 3 yrs but he is still one of the best SS in the league.

Where's the loyalty? The guy have given us some great years and soon as he shows a little decline in his play(and I think he is playing very good for us) we are ready to throw him under the bus. Is he playing like his first 3 yrs in the Nfl, no. Is he still one of the best at his position, yes. Look around the league.

This guy is a Cowboy, he is going nowhere. I hope he gets back to playing like the ole Roy but I am happy with the Roy we have now.

What's up with all the hate for roy , really..I mean the guy has gave us his all

In years past..It happens to everyplayer, were they probably have a bad yr.

I bet if you asked players in the NFL , i bet they would still say they have

respect for the guy..Funny cause when they see roy coming there way, they

rather lay on the floor then take on the hit. LOL

Heavy Hitta roy , love the guy.. hes a cowboy for life!

It's hard to say. I don't think there really is a weakness other than the injuries at this point. We're playing well against the run and the pass. Wade's defense will never be a #1 overall defense. He plays the epitome of a "bend but don't break" defense. He just plays a very aggressive bend but don't break. He dares teams to dink and dunk us.

To beat our defense you have to be amazingly accurate consistently throughout the entire game. You also have to have balls of steel to withstand the aggression coming at you. If you falter in the intermediate and deep range, we're going to take advantage of it. If you falter in the short-to-intermediate range, you're going to be punting the ball.

But sure, you could probably improve just about every position on the defense. I just don't see any weaknesses (when you exclude the domino effect of one of the starting corners not playing).

Anyone can look at the threads and see that no one is "picking" on you kid.

You boys start crying and complaining with nothing to back up your silly agenda .... and get upset when we come in and dissect your arguments.

But keep trying.

Should we trade Roy?

Absolutely.

Once we have someone better than him at SS.

everytime the name Roy is in the title it becomes a 100+ post thread and goes on for days. Im starting to think some people just like getting everyone worked up and do it on purpose. Can we have some forum moderation please?

Thirtysomething posts and already you are part of the thought police.:laugh2:

That can-do attitude.
Yes, in your formative years here, you wanted to close down a discussion about Roy, his role, his skills, his value ... nice start!!

;)

Look forward to your right-thinking threads, dude.

Do exactly what they are doing except bring him off the field on obvious passing downs. To do that we need to go get another safety that can actually cover a TE. I'd be satisfied with that until its cost effective to trade or release him. He still has value as a tackler on 1st and 2nd down. Thats when he should be on the field.

This is why I hope to see Patrick Watkins come along.

when you have nothing to bring to the discussion you say we have an agenda.

Really? I already posted all the facts comparing Roy with other Safties in the league .... and you agenda boys ignored them .....

You guys claim that you cannot use facts, cannot compare him to other safeties, and cannot listen to his coaches.

So save the victim card for your buddy Gimmie ..... he seems to like using it as much as you.

I love the guy against the run, but he has severe issues in coverage. On Shockey's TD he actually had pretty good coverage and was running step for step with Shockey. Manning actually threw it behind Shockey and that was the only reason Roy didn't have the ability to make a play on the ball as he was actually would have been in better position had Manning actually lead Shockey as you normally would.

I rewatched the game last night. Everytime they split Shockey wide and Roy went out there, the ball went to Shockey. You just cannot have someone doing that to a player on your defense.

Either Roy better figure it out quick, or I would look at replacing him with Hamlin and starting Watkins at FS.
