So, after being grilled by a few posters because I commented without watching the tape, I decided to watch the tape. I’m wondering if that dude posts onhere as well. Yes, there were some badly placed balls (high, low, etc....). But, where the author of the video loses me is when he blames Dak on quite a few deeper sideline passes. What I’ve noticed about Dez over the years is that he’s staring to run every vertical-type route like a fade. TOO MANY TIMES (I counted 11) on that video did I watch him basically give the CB help because he keeps taking his route right to the sideline. One of the more notorious instances was in the KC game - he had beat his man to the inside of the break, yet inexplicably gave up the inside leverage a few seconds later and basically ran right to the pylon. Also, I that same game, the author calls his drop in on the dig route just a good hit. Then, I see him say 3-4 times that the ball was placed badly on instances where Dez had both hands on the ball.

As I’ve said before, Dak has some really bad moments last year. NO DOUBT!!!!!! But, acting like Dez hasn’t had major issues the last 3 years is beyond ridiculous.

See Willie, that’s where you, Khalidi, Risen, etc....lose your argument. I’ve said Dak was bad in quite a few games last year. But, reading y’alls BS, you would think that Dak had led Dallas to 2 straight losing seasons and that he is the ONLY thing keeping Dez from his yellow jacket in Canton. Or, that Dak has been terrible in every game since he came into the league. Or, that Dak was the reason Dallas lost 2 home games when they scored 30+ points. I’m sure I could go on.
I never said Dak was terrible in every game. The reason I am so vocal for my “disdain” for him is:

1. I truly believe he will never be a franchise QB. Call this hatred if you want, but its my opinion.
2. He talks a big game. All off-season he was saying how he wouldnt have a sophomore slump and that he has a year’s worth of film on opposing DCs. All that talk of how we have to win out when we were 5-6 and to come out and lay that dud he did vs Seattle smh
3. He threw Dez under the bus for no reason. Call it frustration or whatever but Dez has never publicly dissed ANY of his QBs. EVER. But for some reason CZ hates Dez.
4. His stans refuse to criticize him when its warranted. Everything else is to blame. Garrett, Dez, Zeke, the Defense, The O-line, Linehan, Jerry, Stephen, etc. Its never his fault. “Dak played like an MVP until the Atlanta game” is nonsense. 1 win vs a playoff team in those 8 games and that was against a slumping Chiefs team that lost to the NYG a week later.

Lol, a slick ball? How many other excuses for him do you keep in your pocket?

It’s really hilarious how many of you supported Dak and wanted to trade Romo after the first few games. After the first season Dak was all the rage now he’s trash according to many. Talk about jumping ship, probably the same people that wanted is to lose out barely half way through the season.

Romo
1st season: 13 INT’s
2nd season: 19 INT’s
3rd season: 14 INT’s

Dak:
1st season: 4 INT’s
2nd season: 13 INT’s

There’s obviously several other stats to compare, some which favor Romo and some that don’t, but this Romo love affair and Dak bashing after his SECOND year is ridiculous.

I think the whole thing with romo and dak is dez.. not what year they did what in..

Also.. with romo it was always pass first and hes a known gunslinger.
With dak.. its run first and hes not a gunslinger at all.. So while you try to tell a story using int stats.. it doesnt tell the whole story.. both qbs have had passes deflected by their WR into the defenses hands

teams used to be so afraid of the Romo Dez connection
to leave Dez 1 on 1 with anything less than a top 5 cb was a big mistake
Romo was a gunslinger who early on trusted his arm too much but later learned and was able to punish defenses with his accuracy
i was happy Dallas drafted Dak, he was a beast at times in Mississippi
but he still throws wobbly passes, throws late with poor anticipation, and has poor accuracy
i suppose he can fix those
he has to

Thank You!!!! Thank You!!!! thank You!!!! I have been explaining this too idiots!! all season long even now that the season is over, relatives good friends, co workers, haters etc. I call them idiots to their face, and I love most of the people to life, and I apologize to them but they believe they have football knowledge and they clearly are lacking. Dak is terrible with his accuracy, we have a very good receiving corp, we do not need to get any receivers in the draft, fix Dak's accuracy speed up his reading of defenses, footwork, and fix the OL and the DL draft another LB or two that lives in the film room like Lee draft a starting safety because we have very good CBs all over this team, tell our OC and DC to get their acts together or pack their bags, and draft the kind of depth that can actually start in the NFL. But mainly if we cannot do that stuff in this draft get Dak and his receivers on the same page (chemistry), the OC and the HC (whom I love and do not want replaced) to put his foot down when the OC and the DC are not holding up their ends.
Dez does not need to be traded, cut , or released and he does not need to take a pay cut, he needs to be given an increase if anything. I love Dak but he is horrible when it comes to our passing game. I said in 2016 and I said it all last season we missed our chance to win the SB by not putting Romo back in as the starter when he became healthy in 2016 and winning it again this season by letting Romo come back as the starter. I believe I was the only person that kept saying put Romo back in Dak was not going to get us to the SB in 16, but Romo would have.
You stated, and the HC whom I love and do not want replaced. Wow!!! Are you related to Garrett?

Romo with no legs is better than Dak. He's so bad, I don't get how you homers can't see it.

Dez is still a great receiver.
Romo with no legs is better than Dak = idiotic statement. Dez is still a great receiver = He hasn’t been for the last 3 years and I don’t think he ever will be again. Hope, I’m wrong though.

It was a clear exaggeration for added emphasis. You taking it as my literally meaning that a legless quarterback could perform in the NFL is "idiotic". Dez is absolutely still a great receiver, as is Cole Beasely in his own right.

Many fans on this site, when trying to make a point say similar outlandish things, and they are serious. Also, it still was idiotic even without your lame exaggeration. Dak’s first two years compare very favorably to Romo’s first 2 years. Dak has intangibles Romo did not have. If we could get rid of Garrett, Dak would prove how good he really is. Also, why do you keep saying Dez is a great receiver? In 2015-2017 he was an average receiver. Definitely not a 13 million a year receiver!!!!

not sure if posted here.. worth the watch.

Dez was even worse when seeing all of those plays back to back.

He claimed a pass was going to be an INT but Brockers blocked it. How could he possibly know it was going to be an INT when it was blocked?

When he claims Dez is behind coverage on a long route, he can't understand that the Safety coming across cut to the front of Dez because of where the ball was thrown. Because the Safety is moving perpendicular to Dez, it's the same basic distance to either go in front or behind him. Dak was attempting to throw away from that Safety but the CB made a good jump and was able to interfere with the pass.

That guy making comments is clueless. He is like many other fans that can't understand a few simple concepts.

1: Those sideline routes where the ball is over his head were throw aways. Dak is not inaccurate by 10 feet.

2: Many people can't visualize what the trajectory would have been if Dez had run the route correctly. He quit on many routes and let the DBs move him off the mark on many others. On intermediate and long routes the QB is throwing to a spot. When Dez fails to get to the spot because he lets a DB outmuscle him, it will appear to be an inaccurate throw.

3: On crossing routes the QB throws to a spot between defenders. Many of those will not be perfectly on target. It's the WRs job to go get the ball, especially when it hits both hands, even if he has to reach for it.

4: On long throws the ball is thrown long before the WR is in the position that he is in when the ball arrives. The WR is like an outfielder on those routes and must converge on the ball. It's like a punt returner saying he didn't catch it because the punter was off by 5 feet to the right.

5: If two DBs are behind Dez with nobody in front, then all QBs are expected to throw it "short".

6: Similar to 5, but with 1 CB. If the CB is over (behind) Dez, Dak is going to throw "short". Dez is expected to quickly move back towards the ball. He should know by how the route and coverage progress to expect the ball to be "short" and therefore should have a quick reaction back to it but instead he has a late and half-arsed reaction to the ball.

7: Even on a throw where it appeared that both the ball and DB were to the inside of Dez, the reality is that he is supposed to run right at the DB and then cut square. I don't have a convenient way to post a drawing from my phone, but a simple drawing would show that a pass targeted at a WR's path being back and over with a square cut, will indeed end up on the same side of the WR as the DB IF the WR makes a 45 degree cut instead of a 90 degree cut.

If the excuse for Dez is “all receivers drop passes” then then apply the same logic to Dak...”all QBs thrown inaccurate passes”. I don’t make excuses, Dak and Dez both need to improve.

TWill and Butler were both around 65% catch rate while Dez was near 50%. Most of Butler's routes were deep which makes it an even bigger discrepancy as compared to Dez.

Butler had his career high catch rate in 2017.

TWill had by far the best catch rates of his career in the two years with Dak.

Many NFL media including the analysts in a couple of the games pointed out that Beasley got extra coverage because 1 DB (Often the #2 CB) could single cover Dez leaving an extra defender in help coverage on Beasley.

Dak rarely looked inaccurate when throwing to TWill and Butler (or Witten). That is likely because they were running the routes as he expected. Butler even said in an interview that he worked with Dak in extra practice to perfect their timing.

TWill has used good route running to make it as an NFL WR. He is not good enough with his hands to be a starter otherwise. It's fairly amazing that Dak was able to connect with him at about 65% considering TWill's lack of natural Hands for catching the ball.

That article compares nothing. Unless Dak is throwing to players on other teams...oh, wait, he does, when he floats a pass 10 yards over Dez's head to get intercepted but yet people blame Dez for it.

That chart has other teams WR's. Where are the stats to his own WR's? Beasley had drops, others had drops. Dak was the issue as much, if not more than Dez.
Tell Witten to run a dang route past the 1st down marker when much needed.
According to the article:
69.2 passer rating with Dez as the target.

95.3 passer rating when targeting the other receivers.

Almost stopped watching when he writes that Dez has “Elite YAC ability” three years ago he did. This year not at all. He was mini-Jason Witten.

I honestly think they don't want to create any chance of a QB controversy. The exact opposite approach Jimmy Johnson took when determining who is long term QB would be.

Not just the front office but some of the fan base, don't want to see Rush and I just don't know what it would hurt.
