Goodfellas begs to differ.

They can beg all they want, though I really liked Goodfellas, as gangster movies go it rates behind Scarface, Casino and the first Godfather... it's on the second tier with the other two Godfathers...

But honestly, I see too many films that were high grossing and that a TON of people liked on these lists. Lets get creative, I dont want to get recommendations about movies I have allready seen.

Well, I tried to do that with Gardens of Stone and Leap of Faith and Kiss of Death... those are three REALLY good movies that not a lot of people have seen, if you're among those who haven't, you should put them on your list to see...

But then the topic turned to ten movies you'd want on a desert island (presumably, with a DVD player and TV), and that's what this list of mine was about...

I also finally got off my butt and watched The World's Fastest Indian. That was a great and very inspirational movie!

Carlito's Way...Pacino is great in this, but Sean Penn is unrecognizable and out of control.

Not to mention you could see the ending coming a mile away.

Snatch.....get your minds out of the gutter.....by Guy Ritchie aka Mr. Madonna

The English accents and slang is a little hard to get used to but it's very funny

"Autum Spring" is a Czech comedy with English subtitles. Its Czech title is Babí Léto, but the American DVD rental uses the Autum Spring title. It was filmed in 2001 or so.

It is a gentle and genuinely funny movie. No violence, nudity, or bad language (so far as I can remember). I sincerely enjoyed it.

Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels is Guy Ritchie's first; it lacks big name actors like Brad Pitt but there are many familiar faces from Snatch and it's just as funny.

They could make a movie about Vinnie Jones and Jason Statham eating ham sandwiches and I'd still probably be the first in line to watch it.

:laugh2: Jason Statham has come out with some pretty sweet action movies lately. Transporter and Transporter 2 are worth seeing, and Crank was, well, interesting at least.

I haven't seen Transporter 2 but 1 was terrible. If it wasn't for the asian chick I would have turned it off.

The fights with Brad Pitt are classic. He's not one of my favorite actors, especially now that he's another Hollywood "activist", but I love the character he plays in that movie.

The shot where he gets knocked out flat and hangs in the air is classic. I like how all the story lines come together at the end. :laugh2:

This reminds me of a David Spade quote from SNL:

"Casino? Caseen it. The first time when it was called Goodfellas. "

To me, Godfather I & II and Goodfellas leave all other mob movies in the dust.

Well, I tried to do that with Gardens of Stone and Leap of Faith and Kiss of Death... those are three REALLY good movies that not a lot of people have seen, if you're among those who haven't, you should put them on your list to see...

Wow, someone other than myself liked Kiss of Death. I never could understand why I saw it panned by anyone who mentioned it. The only way to improve the movie would be to tie Caruso's head to a stick so he'd quit dipping it when he talked.
