And in regard to those imshowed you where he ranked compared to the rest.

Why I listed the other items, because a single stat is not an indicator of anything.

Again, I said it several times. I will repeat so that we are on same page. He is not elite. So he is not special by default. He is second tier and among better ones in that group.

And again, that's why I said, we can spend the money somewhere else and that Jones boys didn't right for once. Wait. Draft. See how he works out. Then let Schultz walk. We probablyight get a 3rd or 4th round pick for him.

yeah that’s cool. i don’t need the other items because i was responding to a specific post citing specific stats. he had a great year. no argument here.

Schulz is good but we need better at TE
Ferguson will be the same
We better not sign Schulz to a big time deal just because he’s Daks friend
We need an upgrade at TE
Wasting resources trying to upgrade a very good TE would be beyond foolish.

We either need Schultz to not demand some huge contract, or we need Fergie to be able to create separation as well as Schultz.

Ferguson seems to have more wiggle to him after the catch. Schultz seem to be like Jason when he catches the ball he is going down to the ground instantly.
I swear, you guys have this preconceived idea that Schultz isn't good so you just believe it. Schultz is a beast after the catch, and at this point has shown more YAC ability than Fergie. It appears to be really close, however.

Why do we need to replace Shultz? What is it with you people and the Shultz hate? Top WR's your going to paying close to 30 million. Top TE's get around 15 million. Wouldnt you rather have a top pass catching TE over having to pay a WR?
It's weird.

Larger question is :
Is Shultz that much better to tie up an additional 10 Million is salary cap space?
This will be looked at hard after the season once we have a full season to evaluate their performance's.
10 mil? I'd sign him for that in a heartbeat. He's going to command much more than that.

I like Schultz, but if someone wants to pay big money for him, you let him walk. Good player, not great. Not worth great money.

I wish someone could get into his head and help him realize that he's going to be rich either way, and a nice 8-9 mil/season salary would be about right for him.

Jake Ferguson was the most productive college TE from any TE currently on the Cowboy's roster. Schulz has developed VERY well and is still the number one, but Ferguson is the first TE in YEARs the Cowboys have brought in via the draft who has done it in college already. I think the YAC play was a fluke - I think he's a sit in the zone and catch a pass kinda guy, not a YAC guy, but I'm very comfortable with the TE room going into 2022.

Schultz is currently the 8th highest paid TE, he will get his chance to prove himself as both a blocker and a receiving TE. Last season 3rd in receptions, 6th in yards and his 8 TD catches was 2nd in the NFL. I'm clearly not as down on Schultz as others

Those numbers will be even better this year for Shultz.

Its definitely worth it when Shultz is the #2 weapon on offense and Dak's security blanket. Also his favorite GL weapon.
Not if Ferguson can be the same security blanket. We should not paying guys to be Daks pacifier!

If you dont think Dak had a say in letting Cooper walk and Shultz staying, you are kidding yourself. I do like ferguson and think he can be like Shultz. Personally I would rather have two shultz with one on a rookie contract.

But, putting Shultz on a one year tag deal was smart. Now they can find out if Furgeson can play.

They also have biased memories of Witten.

I like Shultz a lot and have since we drafted him. I think he's a slightly better receiver than Jake But, IMHO Ferg is the better "all around" TE than Dalton. When I see him out there he reminds me of Witten a little bit.

No need to pay Shultz big money next year. We have his replacement here already. Let Hendershot sit a year on the practice squad and there you go. Ferguson, Hendershot, and McKeon are our TE's next year.

If Dallas wants to be smart about the cap, this is what they'll do.
Got to save that cap space for another Zeke contract extension.

Well, Fergy is willing to block, whereas, Schultz, not so much! The receiving aspects are fairly similar, though. Not a bad pick, actually.

a great TE changes the offense and naked defense much tougher
Many of the best offenses have top TEs
Rams didn't. Bills didn't. Packers didn't.

Realistically, there is Kelce, Kittle, Andrews and maybe Waller that are notably better than Schultz. A case could be made for a few more, but not by a wide margin.

Watch this. To make it easier, check out plays at the 0:55, 1:12, 1:22, 2:08, 3:56, 4:32, 4:54 and 5:11 marks. Of course there are a lot in the overall clip where he gets tackled quickly, as there would be with any TE, but these show he can run after the catch, and he can break tackles.
