Dak should have stopped at: "I don't think"

Funny how rich and/or famous people always believe that people won't remember the things they say and do.

I remember Dak saying multiple times he wouldn't take a "discount" to play for the Cowboys and that it is his duty to get the biggest contract he can. He's not wrong but quit trying to spin it later. Just own it that you are greedy and have no concern about team.
Totally agree.

I could respect Dak a little if he just admitted he was out to get as much as he could team be dammed.

No, he is claiming the 8 from other teams. It will be interesting to see what happens.
We shall see, but the math just isn't mathing on that one. From last year a top 10 free agent costs a minimum of $17M. A top 25 FA cost at least $12M. A top 50 FA cost at least $8M. A top 100 FA cost at least $5M. Those numbers should see a small bump as the cap goes up as well.

If they go that route with $100M they are planning on letting their entire FA class walk, or they are getting lower level free agents. If you expect a free agency overhaul for this team I think you'll be very disappointed. You might see 1 player in the Stephon Diggs mold targeted like Dallas which I welcome, but that would be about it.

I just don't see where the money comes from. Plus the Jerry/Stephen methods on FA is to work it to generate comp picks. Bringing in 8 free agents to lose possible 3rd/4th/5th round comp picks for guys like OSA, Golston, Dowdle, Dlaw, Hoffman, Turpin seems like an odd move.

I don't know about the 8 like he claims, but I do believe that they will bring in some and keep some of their own as well.

Dak’s record is worse.
2-5 is a 0.4 playoff win rate.

Moon’s playoff win rate is 0.43.

And Dak has had a LOT more surrounding talent on his team than Moon had.
Dak has one fewer playoff win and two fewer playoff losses than a first ballot Hall of Famer. Moon played 17 years in the NFL and only twice did he throw for 30 or more TDs despite all his passing yards. He never threw for more than 33 TDs and was part of one of the biggest collapses in playoff history. Moon had talent around him. In 9 seasons Dak has thrown for more than 30 TDs three times and led the league in TDs last season. He had two seasons where he threw for more TDs than Moon ever did.

Dan Fouts a first ballot Hall of Famer had only one more playoff win than Dak despite having one of the all time greatest offenses and he played in same number of playoff games. Dak has had to deal with a number of bad defenses that have cost us playoff games and inconsistent running games. Our talent has been overrated and underachieving.

I just lost half my paycheck gambling on the slots. I guess by this logic it shouldn't affect my ability to pay my bills. Thanks goodness. Will go give the good news to my wife.

We gave him 240 mill and his leg blew up trying to run. The man can't even run anymore. We are so screwed.

so how did we end up with 23M on the cap in 2024?
Because we extended Lamb/Dak and pushed part of their hits into the years to come. These guys were literally the excuses Jerry used for why he sat out free agency last season. If not restructured in 2025 Daks $90M hit will be the reason once again that Jerry doesn't grab a top 50 free agent.

Do you realize the game has greatly evolved since Warren Moon played? It is now a passing league and passing records are broken on a whim easily compared to previous years. You cannot compare them. They are apples to oranges.

On top of that, Dak Prescott has literally been surrounded by a legion of all pros and pro bowlers since he entered the league. He has had 5 All Pro/Probowl linemen, 2 All Pro/Probowl running backs, 2 All Pro receivers, an All Pro tight end, 2 All Pro cornerbacks, an All Pro linebacker/defensive end, an all pro kick returner, all pro kicker, and an all pro punter. I’m probably also forgetting some. Warren Moon never had anywhere close to the talent surrounding him that Dak Prescott has had. Trying to compare the two is completely laughable.

There is no defense of Dak Prescott. NONE!

When it comes to Dak Prescott,…

When it matters the least, he shows up the most.
And when it matters the most, he shows up the least.

The passing game has evolved but Moon, Fouts and Marino had offenses that were predicated on the passing game and were hard to defend. However, Marino was the only one of the three to reach a SB and all three had losing playoff records. All three were first ballot Hall of Famer‘s. Their teams depended on them too much and their defenses never held up in the playoffs. Not going to waste a lot of time with this so don’t bother digging in for a marathon. Dak has been one of the most productive QBs in the league and has almost the same playoff record as Lamar Jackson who’s won two league MVPs.

Having to depend on your QB too much will lead to problems in the playoffs. We’ve had coaching issues and management issues led by the Joneses. We’ve been seeing the same problems with the team for almost 30 years regardless who we’ve had at QB. Dak has suffered two season ending injuries on bad teams that had no running game and no defense.

Cowboys5217 said:

Dak has the worst starting playoff record in NFL history

Then KJJ replied with:

Not sure where you came up with that. lol Warren Moon is in the HOF despite a 3-7 playoff record.

Therefore, KJJ was arguing that Moon had a worse playoff record and Dak has a better playoff record. Which is incorrect.

Thanks for keeping up.

I tell ya, the public school system has failed so many...lol.

It’s the worst contract ever.

The only one that rivals it is Watson with the Browns.
Todd France must have the dirty goods on Jerry as that latest contract makes zero sense any way you look at it.
Think Jimmy explained it perfectly now what they have on Jerry we will never find out in all probability!!

Your past examples really prove we are at a competative disadvantage with our current GM.
Our off season last year was terribly mismanaged, and one reason this season has gone south.
Until we get a GM who is sharp and can keep up with our rivals we are never going to taste post season glory again.
:facepalm::(
The problem is we do not know or understand Jerry's strategy, or if he has one. There must be a reason he chose to wait until the season almost began to extend Dak, and to wait to re-sign CeeDee. He said all offseason the CAP was the problem but he could have cleared CAP space with those two deal back in March if he anted to. He waited. Why?

Had he cleared space maybe he could have kept Fowler, or someone else instead of letting everyone leave.

Why is Dak so selfish? He’s the biggest liar I’ve ever seen on this team!
Exactly…..other QB like Brady and Mahomes took less per year to help the team…..with Dak not having to pay state income taxes (which ends up being worth several million dollars vs what other QBs lose per year….adds up) and his commercials….he doesn’t need to be the highest paid QB since he’s not the best anyway. I would want to win a SB, if I had to give up a little (not like 10 million a year) to sign a couple players (as long as a discussion with Jerry happened telling him the ONLY reason I’m adjusting the contract is to get players), I would be down….he will still end up 100+ millionaire, but adding a superbowl is priceless. would all depend on Jerry.

Stephon Diggs.. how many WRs you got yo go through, including a head case, to realize the WR ain’t the problem…

You still got to be able to make the reads for your later progressions.. nothing is going to increase Dak’s processing time..
