No one is more willing to give out incentive laden, "prove it" deals, than Jerry.

If Hardy wants a shot at first tier money, but is willing to do it under incentives, the Cowboys are hands down his best option. The problem with that is, even he doesn't know what kind of crap Gooddell will try to pull. There is legal precedent that Hardy can't/shouldn't face further punishment. Who knows though...

I could have sworn I saw a headline saying this should have been resolved last Tuesday. I wonder what the delay with the NFL is. I bet the punishment is announced as soon as some team signs him.

Not sure I buy it, but if true it would have to be the right structure.

Kind of a larger Melton type structure, where they can kick the tires and get out after a year with no huge cap hit.

It's hard to determine if this is what the market is though, only takes one other team to throw more guaranteed money at him.

Just like there was with Big Ben, amirite?

Slightly different situation imo. Ben was suspended after a 2010 incident, but this was also the second time he was nearly charged. He had an incident in 2008 and the public perception, whether it's true or not, was at the time was he wasn't charged due to his high profile.

Goodell cannot use the new policy on Hardy- Doty already ruled that. So the most he could do was a 2 games suspension- which since he has already sat out a full season and his case has been dismissed that would be appealed- with a very good chance of being over turned. With all the sturm und drang lately I think it is a good possibility that Goodell just lets this one go.

He is a good enough player, at a highly desirable position that it is worth the risk. Jerry is always talks about risk / reward, well here it is.

This Hardy situation is looking more and more like a one year deal. The signing team gets a relative bargain and the player gets a year to repair their stock and renter the market looking for a big payday next year.

Several of these second tier players like Knighton and Clayborn have already done that.

the boys might have waited and gambled on this and if that is the case they might just really get a steal. I really doubt they have changed their minds at all- they always wanted him but were NOT going to pay big money.

That's what I'm hoping for. Good deal for all involved.

I hope not. I'd rather risk giving him a multi year deal. I don't want him repairing his reputation in Dallas for not even a full season and then going elsewhere the rest of his career.

Two potential Free Agent signings puts this club up significantly for the Offseason, everyone knows who they are.

Hardy over Peterson

depends on how much he wants.

Hence, maybe a Melton type structure, lower this year, if works out then it balloons, just maybe not as much as it would have cost if had no issues this year.

This is what I am saying. If it is a one year deal, it better be team option.

At this point, I'll agree to whatever scenario gets him in Dallas for 2015. My preference is a long-term solution, but I'll take what I can get right now. If that's the only deal he's looking for, that's what I go with.

Lol never know whats going on. Last week there was an absolute no not interested no they are considering it.

Give him a Melton type deal. Low first year figure with a club option at top 5 DE money after

Yeah, I like this option and he can't really fault the Boys for lowballing him. Possible 6 game suspension and his current image are valid justification to do so. It just depends on where he wants to be. Raiders are the only other club I have heard wants him and will probably pay more to do so.

26 year olds who rack up a sack a game don't shake loose too often. It would be a real shame if the Cowboys didn't pursue this guy aggressively. In fact, it would by far be their biggest mistake of the off season so far.
