By many reports he's an arrogant fellow. Might make him good might make him bad. He certainly is a gamer. We will find out what he is made of tonight against Bama.

Yes. Many of us will be watching closely.

Phillip Rivers arrogant or RG3 arrogant? Major difference IMO.

I have been saying to friends and family for few weeks, I have a feeling that Cook ends up a Cowboy...I see him as an early 3rd rounder, but I wouldn't want him earlier than that pick

Troy Aikman disagrees with you.

No he doesn't, John Elway has won a Super Bowl since Troy Aikman has so my point remains valid.

No top 10 QB has won a super bowl with their original team besides the manning brothers since John Elway. Trent Dilfer is only top 10 QB to win a super bowl at all in that period but he never came close to living up to his draft stratus.

The Commanders investment was a bust.

The Eagles did make a second round investment, he is on another team.

The Giants only hit because they had a "can't miss" Manning prospect. There is a not a can't miss prospect in this draft. As far as your comparison to the past Cowboy quarterbacks, the NFL has changed a lot since then.

The Commanders invesrment was a bust only becuz of injury.

They made the move to try to draft a Franchise QB and did.

When healthy..he killed everybody.

I'd take him right now and start getting him ready.

Yes..the NFL has changed. And it also stays the same.

While guys like Vick, RG3 and Kapernick rise and fall..

guys like Brady, Peyton Manning and Aaron Rodgers win Championships.

So traditional QBs in mature organizations win consistantly.

We are still trying to be one of thosse mature organizations. Its a process as Garrett says.

So I still believe this is our chance to move the Franchise forward with the solid base we have.

QB will be fixed. Romo will play next year and we will be back in the mix with this next year and then we will all feel better.

You've seen this year what we will look like when Romo is through if we don't start addressing the QB position.

True, but the problem might be deeper than the talent at the position. The system must catch up to the year 2016.

yea, but that accounts for 3 of the last 10 Superbowls (2006, 2007, 2011) so I'm not sure your point. Throw in Ben Rothlisberger who was picked 11th and you have 5 of the last 11 SB winners, so what is your point?

So in one year, this system went from a 13-5 system to a 4-12 system?

No, Romo is 16-5 in this system. The system is fine.

This team still needs defensive talent, another receiver, a young RB, and a better backup QB.

Mostly, it needs its elite QB to stay healthy.

To further your point, I'm highly doubtful that Goff, Lynch, or Cook are any better pro prospects than Brandon Weeden.

Drafting them doesn't make them good.

Often, a draft doesn't have elite QB potential in it. Don't force the issue.

With Romo returning from a non career threatening injury it's not that important to draft a QB in the first round but to have a good chance to come up with a solid backup they need to take one by at least the second round. With Romo having maybe 2-3 good years left there's no rush to pull the trigger on a QB with our top pick with all the needs the team has. I'm not opposed to taking a QB in the first round but not with a top 5-10 pick. Drafting a QB is a huge crapshoot most don't develop into solid NFL QBs and with Romo still playing at a high level there's no rush to use our top pick on a QB.

You can find solid QBs in the second round like Brees, Dalton. Boomer Esiason, Brock Osweiler and Derek Carr. Bridgwater was taken at the end of the first round so you can find a solid QB without having to cough up a top 10 pick. Go review the top 10 of the draft over the years and look at how many top 5-10 QBs went bust it's alarming so you don't take one that high unless you're desperate for a starting QB.

So in one year, this system went from a 13-5 system to a 4-12 system?

No, Romo is 16-6 in this system. The system is fine.

This team still needs defensive talent, another receiver, a young RB, and a better backup QB.

Mostly, it needs its elite QB to stay healthy.

Absolutely.

And when you see the elite QBs in the league aging and still being effective like like a Peyton or Brady or Brees..

and you see what Romo can do when healthy and some help like he had in 2014..

you still have a plan in place to help get it done.

The fortunate thing for Tony is he is not having throwing arm injuries nor leg injuries or knee issues like RG3 or Arizona's QB.

The non-throwing shoulder is not career threatening.

So panic needs to subside and cooler heads need to be applied.

Cowboys fans are some of the best in the World but we have been humbled.

Bottom line? Franchise QBs are rare with an average of 1 being drafted every year,,, usually in the first round. Wilson, Brady, Osweiler,Taylor and Carr are the only non-first rounders starting in this league I'd be happy with starting here. Even more rare are top 10 QBs that get away from the teams that drafted them. You want a top 10 QB? You've got to draft him, and odds are he's going to be a first rounder. Drafting this high I'd rather take a safer pick unless the coaches really like one of those top 2 QBs,,, or even trade back and take Wentz,,,

Add Cousins, Brees, Foles/Keenum, Fitzpatrick, Dalton/McCarron to the list.

It is time to make a major investment in Romo's future replacement. There is no side-stepping the issue. The rookie can serve as Romo's back-up until it is time for Romo to retire . It is short sighted to wait any longer unless fans are looking forward to another ten years like the post-Aikman era. I can usually try and see several options to address this type of problem, but in this case, there is only one way to handle this. If a QB is available during the first round of the draft that has the talent to lead this team for the next ten years, it would be stupid not to draft him. IMO, there is no debating this issue . The QB position is just too important.
