Then there's the other side of the coin. Those that oddly don't really seem to care and seem somewhat enthusiastic about the spate of injuries.
Why has Bledsoe had success this year? He has had time. Losing a starting LT will affect that. Not to mention the fact that the run game has been less than stellar. Bringing in a guy who is less talented isn't about to help that. Does anyone in their right mind think Parcells would have kept Tucker on the bench if he was an upgrade? Probably the same people that were moaning about Tucker even making the roster.
Since Dat has gone out, there has been a serious lack of big plays from the inside linebackers. Sounds like it was on them for the Shockey TD. Think Dat might have made the right call there?
A clutch WR and punt returner is out. Who replaces his PR ability? A starting corner? Is the guy that has been inactive most of the season going to replace his production at the #3 WR spot?
Granted, injuries happen. However, they are starting to pile up and at key positions with key players. A defensive leader at ILB, the starter and emerging talent at RB, a key PR and #3 WR, and the guy responsible for protecting a QB that is only effective when his line can protect him. Seems important to me.
Before the season, I'd have said the main injuries that could severely cripple this team would be a S (specifically Williams), LT and QB. People want to say "It'll be OK, they will max protect and help the LT". OK, who the heck goes on a pattern if you are helping both your rookie RT and inexperienced LT?
Its not trivial and its not an upgrade.
