I am not sure at all. I only stated what I have read from several different sources after researching it for a couple hours. As I have said, nobody knows at this point due to HBO taking the series in their own direction. There are several sites that give accurate info on the behind the scenes stuff that is going on. If Jon Snow becomes a wolf, or something else is possible, but Kit Harrington said that he did not sign a contract to come back like many of the other actors. There could be a change, but that is all that is known at this time . I have many theories myself, but I have only passed on the info that is known at this time.. I am not trying to convince you of anything . Just passing on direct quotes from the people involved with the show. Nobody is safe on GOT. That is the only sure thing that anybody knows.

You don't know anything that we don't..... we all love GOT, we all have google.....

Most good writers have an ending to their story first and foremost.
Martin has an ending, he quizzed the show runners on the ending before giving his blessing for the show.
He still supervises all scripts, and still gives approvals before release.....And is contracted to continue to do so.

The show is not random .. This is not "modern family", "family matters", or "family ties".... They know where they are going... It's not based on ratings, or what looks cool... its based on an end game...

There are some new characters showing up next season that is going to add new story lines that has not been seen so far .

A few things are known.

Before approving of the writers on HBO Martin asked them who Jon Snow's mother was. There is a reason that he asked this and the writers got it right and he was a little amazed at that.

Although the HBO series is now surpassing what has been written in the book and has deviated from the book over the series.

The writers DO know how the Song of Fire and Ice (the book series title where the show is called game of thrones after the first book in the series). Martin told the two main writers of the show how the book series will end. Who wins the game of thrones, who will be defeated and the general premise of the ending.

So although the show will deviate from some things in the book, and although the show is moving past the written book, they will not change the very core of the ending nor the Characters who will be deemed the winners or losers in the main battle of the book.

So maybe HBO takes it in a direction that may deviate in a few areas, they are not going to change the over all ending.

If Martin told them that Jake and Danielle and Tiny Tom (fake names of course) are going to be the winners in the end while the white walkers are defeated...HBO is not going to have the white walkers win. They are not going to have Bill and Mary killed and put Samwise Gamgee as the winner and king of all.

Now we just need that old fart to live long enough to finish the books.

Last I heard he said he was cutting back some other engagements to concentrate on trying to get the latest book done before they start next seasons shows.

A day or so after I read that, he was at some show or interview talking about how he has some shows he has to go to, awards he has read up on (guess he is a voter or judge), and is currently working on up to 3 possible shows for HBO and I also think he said some other books (non GOT).

So who knows if we ever get the books in the near future.

I read about his input with the new writers as well. He did say that you shouldn't take for granted that the TV show will not give his final books away. There will be some changes on the show that could or could not show up in the books. I am sure that he wants to keep them separate to continue with his book sales. Some people wouldn't bother buying the upcoming books if the TV show gave everything away. I can understand his reasoning behind that thought. He would sell fewer books and make less money. I think the results will be the same, but there will be some differences and twist in the plot to get to those final results .

He is not a young man and anything is possible. He may never finish the books. He looks like a heart attack waiting to happen.

I've heard the theory (about ghost), and I know Bran, & Orell have shown that ability, but they haven't alluded to Jon having that power on the show. There was no set up, so I hope that's not the case.

Yeah that's what I was getting at. Read the book when it came out so I can't remember exactly how it was set up but I'm sure Jon wargs into Ghost a few times and the chapters preceding his death deal extensively with warging. I definitely remember reading the "for the watch" chapter and immediately thinking he will have warged.
Seems likely that Melisandre will resurrect him with him having warged into Ghost possibly being used to get around the issues with losing part of himself shown by Ser Beric Dondarrion.

And to top it off, his final word in the book is, "Ghost."

Don't you think that the White Walkers killing everybody and everything would make for a surprise twist as the show ends? Most of the characters are back-stabbing, power-hungry , sorry excuses for humanity. Are the White Walkers really that much worse ? I kinda like their style.

I may be a bit mad... but I would get over it quick, because it would be hilarious.

But I will say this... I think the show will end with "balance", more than one side destroying the other.

fwiw, I suspect the next book will be out before the next season. Now the final book is another story...

With him taking 4-5 years between books and his age, there's really no telling if he will finish the last book. Honestly 5 years after the show ends, the last book may not have near the interest as previous installments. If he really wants to keep people intrigued by the last book, he will buckle down and get it done within a year, 2 at the most of the shows end.
