I guess legally it makes sense, but the writer even says, this assumes a peaceful transfer of power. There would not be a peaceful transfer of power. If Tommen died tomorrow, I can guarantee you that little finger becomes king. Not next, but he would become king.

I don't think that was ever their claim to fame......Ned Stark's death was vital to the story, not his character......it set the chaos in motion....

because its a ladder...

Speaking of little finger... Wonder when he makes his appearance this season.

Oh did Rickon stark pull a Ritchie Cunningham's big brother and disappear never to be seen again?

Sure, but when part of your claim to fame is not being afraid to kill off central characters, it kinda cheapens it when you can just bring them back the following episode.

Its not about being afraid, its about following an outline, having a destination for your story.... this is a book we're watching....

If you watch all the clues of the show.... its always pointed to jon snow being the central character.... from his appearance (christ), to him being the outcast and getting the runt of the litter albino wolf with red eyes(raven), to him reaching the summit at the end of little fingers speech about "chaos is a ladder", to snow in the throne room when danny had her vision (some say its ashes), to Mel seeing him though the flames after he put an arrow in mance's heart, to the look the white walker gave him at hardhome. At some point you have to recognize the natural progression of "A Hero's Journey".... almost every adventure movie is based on this philosophy.... It was pretty obvious he was coming back, Sam said so himself... "he always comes back..". His DireWolf is name is "Ghost" for crying out loud..lol....

BTW, has anyone mentioned the "Brothers with Banners"... that guy has come back 7 times (I think thats what they said).... we saw him get struck down by the hound and come back... these clues are placed in the show for a reason....

Lmao... well his wolf is named "shaggy dog" he's out in the wild, never been trained in the ways of being noble like his siblings, because he was too young... I wouldn't be surprised if he's re-casted next time we see him.

Exactly. Well said all around. The Brothers with Banners guy (Beric Dondarian) was basically put into the show to set a precedent about being brought back. Jon Snow coming back was set up in the second season.

It's actually about 3 characters though. In the end, It's Jon, Dany, and Tyrion who are the real focal point of the story. There's a difference between killing off important characters that each season follows and ending the overall story by killing off the main plot. At some point, if you kill off every character, then there's no point at all to the earlier seasons. You can't just keep introducing new people and starting over. It's a story that has a beginning, middle and end. At 2/3 through, it would be senseless to start the whole thing over.

I agree with this... but Jon is the balance of the story... he is "Fire & Ice"

Jon Is the Fire and Ice but Jon, Danny and Tyrion are the three heads of the dragon.

And this will really blow your mind...I also think they are the dragon riders of...Pern.

:p

I'm a little surprised that they didn't burn Jon's body like they mentioned and that could have been his resurrection similar to Dany surviving the fire untouched.

I was thinking that could happen. But I think it would've made it too obvious that he was a Targaryen. I think they want to slowly reveal that with the Tower of Joy flashbacks.

That is a timing thing. If they would have already concluded the flashback scenes it would have been possible, but right now it would make the suspected theme of those completely pointless. I agree that would have been the coolest way to revive him, but timing disallowed that.

I don't think anyone alive knows he's Robert's son

Ser Davos does, but he freed him from terrible death at the hands of Melisandre and Stannis so I'm pretty sure he will not tell anyone. Melisandre doesn't seem to have reason to kill him anymore so he should be safe from her as well.

Not so sure he's Fire... thinkin that might be Dany. Which leaves Tyrion as the ampersand :)

But you do make a good point that if I had to pick one single character out of all the dozens we've gone though, It would probably be Jon.

Wonder if we see Jon on the back of one with his dire wolf Ghost as well. How bad arse...a dire wolf on a dragon...kind of like lasers on a shark.

Imagine how cool a bug in Jon Snow's hair would feel at that moment!

A bug riding Jon Snow, who's riding a Direwolf on the back of a Dragon
