Game of Thrones

Just in the book it's much more intentional. She thrusts up with all her might or something like that. The scene in the show it basically made it look like the dude ran into the sword as she turned.

Meh.

That Droggo fight scene though. Holy ****.

I just read that part today on the train home. It wasn't fully intentional, but a reaction. (the show makes it more like an accident) Not even to her sword training, but to what her brother said when he gave her Needle. The scene didn't work very well, but at least it wasn't a complete deviation from the book.

***********SPOILERS***************

So, I couldn't stand it anymore and I read all of the wikis for all of the books. I was intending to read these books after the first season was over, but now I'm not sure I want to. Almost literally everyone dies. How does this work? How can you get attached to the characters if the good guys always die?

Seriously, is this not frustrating when reading the books?

I always hear that as a complaint. However, when you read the books, the "major" characters that are killed off really weren't developed all that well anyway in my opinion.

I read quite a bit and these were the best books I had read in quite some time. In my opinion, they are worth reading and are superior to the TV series at this point.

Don't know how much of a spoiler it is that lots of people are gonna die... I was preparing for Ned to die here pretty soon and he feels like the main protagonist to this point. Once Robert and viserys died it was pretty clear there was going to be no sparing important characters.

I guess nobody is too important to lose in a very fluid story-line. I hope someone beheads Cercei though. :) (no idgits; don't tell me, I will find out in time!)

That was most certainly the best hour of television I've ever watched.

Outside of being a little disappointed about not showing the battles at all (particularly not having Tyrion leading the van or Jaime's attempt to take Robb), it was a pretty good episode.

Glad they finally got around to mentioning Tysha.

Dude, shudup! ..and stop complaining for that matter! First of all, all of it can't be in the show, second of all, (and most important for me) you are ruining it for people who haven't read the books yet!

How am I ruining it? I didn't talk about anything beyond the current episode, and some of the stuff (Tysha) if going by the book would have been in like episode 5. The specifics I mentioned were minor non-story related things I was just hoping to see.

I'm not even complaining either. There was one thing I was a little disappointed about, that's it. And I completely understand why they didn't do it for budgetary reasons, but it's still disappointing (and somewhat worrisome because as far as the "big budget" stuff goes, that would've been probably the cheapest of the series). But with how they did handle it, I thought they did a pretty good job.

Still a good episode and the got the last scene absolutely perfect.

I'm not talking about the show, I'm talking about reading the book. I haven't read those parts yet. You are giving away details I haven't read yet!

Only thing I mentioned was Tyrion being in the battle as opposed to not. Very minor. I didn't spoil anything for you. The Jaime thing was actually mentioned in the show.

Any one else notice in the Conan trailer during the finals that the actor playing Drogo is playing Conan?

No matter how much I had prepared for it, it wouldn't have mattered. My stomach was in my throat. Now I'm hoping that dbag Joffrey gets his balls cut off like the eunuch.

To be fair its a thread which is, albeit indirectly, based on a book released 14 years ago. Seems a bit much to expect not to read anything you'd rather not and have a go at folk who do make comparisons between the show and the book.

I'm so hooked on this show. Great episode!

I don't have sky (the channel its shown on over here) so rather than watching it online I'm waiting for Christmas and making sure someone gets me the boxset. Looking forward to it!

I want Sansa to redeem herself by stabbing Joffrey in the neck while the Queen watches. :)

This thread is about the show, not the book. Besides, it's my thread so no talkie talkie about things I haven't read yet! ;)

Yea, and that seems like a bit of very obvious casting. He's quite the physical specimen.
