Garrett just said Romo checked out of a run on the INT

They're talking about the first INT. The second INT Beasly admitted he cut the route short. Doesn't matter, the entire organization needs to be blown up. Romo gone. Ware gone. Witten gone. Carr gone.

who cares about the last INT, there were 90 seconds left. People were asking why we weren't running the ball 2nd half when we had the lead

Plus the defense really should buy Garrett and Romo a fruit basket or something. Because of those INTs no one is talking about 5 second half possessions that were ALL converted for TDs.

I wonder if he changed the other 15 passing plays that should have been running plays?

Doubt it. We should have never been in that position.

Actually, I bet he did it often in this game.... Romo and Garrett were jawing at each other most of the game.... it was caught on camera a few times.

Yeah, because a whole half of football of just nonsense, and you call him on one play. What about all those lack of runs? Was Romo calling audibles the whole second half? In the PC, Garrett also said Callahan calls the plays. He also said they wanted to be aggressive.

You remember what Stephen and the rest of the clowns were saying all week...

Did Romo check out of 3 straight run plays at the end of the 3rd quarter? Did he check out of all the supposed run plays that came before the INT to Austin?

Garrett is a complete joke. His play calling is atrocious.

Sure, Garrett is atrocious. I don't know why this forum is so black-and-white. Why can't Garrett be incompetent AND Romo be a choker? I'm not blaming any of the game on Romo besides a handful of over/underthrows that would have resulted in TDs, an underthrow to Miles which resulted in an INT, and a checkout of a run and a poor decision to throw to Beasley (who ran the right route) for an INT to seal the game. Other than those things, yes, our defense and play calling is what cost us.

Actually, Romo and Witten were jawing at Garrett and the play-calling... And they were two pass plays, Witten in particular on that stupid screen play.

Harrison and Dungy are noted Romo critics. Aikman never said he made the correct read to sit down. He said he stopped on his route and he did so because of the defender who made the pick and so it wasn't necessarily a bad decision, implying that it was a probable mis-communication.

Garrett is a weasel. He relies on Romo to get him out of his asinine play calling. That way when he does pull them through, the positive of a win far outweighs the negative coaching and people forget, whereas when Romo makes a mistake it is magnified a la the media theme and so he can deflect part of the blame onto him.

Dungy has been wrong before. I remember one time he accused Newman of not getting a press and leaving his safety out to dry. The play was actually designed that way by Phillips.

That said I am leaning towards Romo being the one who made the error.

Yes, Romo deserves to be blamed. I still feel HC should control the situation such as the second half. You simply has to tell your QB that you run until I tell you otherwise! Simple as that.

As head coach you DO NOT have two plays called at critical time unless you WANT to give your QB that option. You MUST manage the game!

what does Running the ball at that point really do to help the team?

That one audible out of the run doesn't make up for the horrible playcalling and abandoning of the run the rest of the 2nd half.

Because it just comes off to me as Garrett trying to save his butt. No matter what happened, it falls on Garrett. He's the head coach. If Romo is making mistakes like that by checking out of run plays, then Garrett needs to take that power away from him.

The thing that gets me is GB scored a TD on every drive, and they still barely had enough time to come back; if we run like 3-5 more times and it takes enough time off the clock to make it impossible to come back, Even with the D giving up a TD every time. It's not like we even needed 10 more runs, would have liked it but we didn't even need that many!
