So your position is we shouldn’t get rid of Garrett because it’s really, really tough to get a great coach. Therefore we should be happy with garrett and hope against reality he turns into a SB caliber coach.

LOL.
Lots of fans have bought into the mediocrity defense

You can't handle the truth. Any coach could've came in, not run the ball and made Romo, T.O. and Witten a quality passing attack. You're argument is ridiculous. I guess they should thank Garrett for turning them into studs? Not like the offense wasn't good the year before he got here. Garrett really turned things around. lol Took an offense that was already good and turned the ground game into bottom feeders while the passing attack saved his job on a regular basis.

There's no truth, your argue is insane, you can't audible and it be from an entirely different system. It's still was audibled to a play in Garrett's system. Of course he turned it around when he got here, the same players went and offense went to #2 in the league in 2007.

No, you don't get rid of Garrett because the guy only had 1 losing record in 10 years and continuity is best with this group of players rather than starting over.

Dude if a fight is what you're looking for, I have better things to do with my time. I make a very good living in IT. Pretty sure I'm a pretty smart guy. Everyone who's ever met me would agree.

Fact is, you can't actually rebut a single thing I've said. All you have is ad hominem attacks. I'm willing to wager you've never actually had anyone here willing to stand up to you. Well, if you really need verbally beaten down, I'm your huckleberry.

So you think you're the only one who work in IT? I've work in IT myself as a computer operator at Martin Marietta, now Lockeed Martin, I also worked as a System Admin. I coached high school football, played semi pro, so in that I do understand football . I just rebutted everything you said , what you said is stupid.

You haven't rebutted anything. What I said is known fact. Just like Carrot not being an X's and O's guy is known fact. Even his own old QB said it very publicly. You have no ability to argue anything without ad hominem attacks.

I wasn't talking about what you do for a living. I mentioned part of what I do because you questioned my intelligence. I don't care what you do. You're irrelevant. Nobody cares about you. Everyone's seen you're the biggest joke on the board, and since all you can do is respond with masking profanity and continual ad hominem attacks, probably the lowest IQ member.

The Cowboys under Garrett have been just a little above mediocrity as defined by the NFL. That’s not good enough. Some is the fault of Garrett or his staff; some is the fault of key mistakes by key players at the most important time; much of the fault still lies with the front office. Poor OL and defense early with Romo; poor defense later with Romo. Injuries...youth...inexperience...relying on certain stars who aren’t strong mentally.

I understand wanting to change the head coach because fans know that nothing else will change. Change for the sake of change is never good. You don’t make a change unless the staff loses the team and the product is awful with no hope or unless you have a target that will improve your coaching situation.

There is absolutely no reason to think Gruden would improve our situation. I’m sure there may be coaches available who would improve our situation. I’m just not sure who they are. If Garrett misses the playoffs with a healthier team (meaning the stars are playing or the depth errors are corrected), then I think he’s gone. But right now JJ sees a possibility of returning to 2016 with a better defense; that’s why he’s sticking with his guys. If you really hate Garrett, then don’t pull for a divisional title and strong run in the playoffs this year. Pray for failure; I’m sure that will bring change.

I can tell you that despite having garbage for a defense, two of the last four seasons rank at the top of the best seasons in the history of the NFL. In one playoff game under Romo, any possible playoff run was killed by the noncatch call in GB, and in the other with a rookie QB and RB, any possible playoff run was killed by an inept defense and the god-QB from GB. Those two GB losses came in postseasons when I can assure you no one in the NFL was hoping to play Dallas.

Agree to disagree buddy
I think the only way to move forward is once Garrett leaves
I’d strongly suggest plan B because Garrett isn’t going anywhere.

So, unless your totally giving up with Garrett what you got?

Why do people always wish or want for what they can’t have?

Figure out how to make the most of what you do have.

How do you overcome handicaps? You prop them up. You surround them with support.

Its similar in how you approach surrounding a less than elite QB.

So that is your standard, just don't have a losing season?

As long as the coach doesn't have a losing season, its all good? So according to you, a coach could go 8-8 every single year and never make the playoffs and your argument is "we cant get rid of this guy, he like never has losing seasons". Well maybe that is your standard, but I would imagine most fans on this site have a little higher standard than you do, such as winning playoff games.

Oh wait, I just noticed that you got benched:laugh:..................................................deservedly so I might add, good job mods.

Good point, but I guess the flip side is Einstein's definition of insanity, "doing the same thing and expecting different results".

Sometimes change is needed, not just in football, but in life in general.

Sometimes the best thing to do is leave the situation and start fresh, be it starting a new job, be it starting a new relationship, be it moving to a new town, be it buying a new car, or maybe even a sports team hiring a new head coach. Sometimes starting over is the better option than just toughing it out and "making the most of a bad situation".

Of course. But my point is what’s your plan if you don’t get rid of Garrett?

Starting fresh is the easy answer. If that’s not an option. How do you make the best of a bad situation?

If I am stuck with Garrett, your idea is the best...................build a roster of elite talent that is so good that they can win despite the head coach

My only concern is that in the era of the salary cap and free agency, is it possible to build a roster that can overcome bad coaching?

IDK.. but you have to try. We came close a couple years breaking thru to a championship game. How do we add to that?

Well I am from the school of addition through subtraction. As in subtract Garrett and the talent pool suddenly increases.

I understand but if that’s not an option then what? Do you just give up?
Nope. I am also from the school of never giving up. Have faith and stand your ground. So, I will keep believing that Garrett will be gone and someday I will have it. Till then, I will watch and wait.
