Genuine outrage

Callahan had every opportunity to get rid of Costa when he arrived. If you don't know that Callahan watched film on every OL on the team and had a big say in who would stay and who would not be resigned then that is your problem.

Let's not act like he was "hand-cuffed" with him, if he didn't want him here at all even competing for the spot he would have been let go. It's not like cutting him would be a huge cap penalty either.

You guys are too caught up with name recognition.

It is really dumb that you get this upset about it. Things will be like this until Jerry dies are walks away completely, until then we will be led by an ego driven "GM" that does not have the discipline or the knowledge or planning to do the job. We will not win a super bowl under Jerry, we will not be a solid team under Jerry. We will be flashy and we will have good games, but we will lack consistency and true substance (just like Jerry himself....hmmmm...). You of all people should know this.

They split $5M this year and $5M next.

Speaking of cap penalties though we should be getting all of our dead money back next year.

The only dead money we will carry is the $2M from the Newman cut and whatever surprise cuts we make after training camp.

I believe we are carrying about $30M in dead money this year.

Whilst I agree with some of your sentiments here, that is not an excuse for poor decision making, if this player truly falls into that category.

If you're really committed to the cause, you could go the Tibetan Monk route of Self-Immolation.
 
Spending big money on a free agent center is stupid. It's a position ripe for mis-evaluation because so much of a center's performance is dependent on scheme and the guards around him since most of his snaps involve combination assignments with a guard. You're just begging for a Jason Brown situation. It's also one of the few positions that you don't have to spend money for premium God given talent. Many centers can not only get by, but excel, just through intelligence, technique and work ethic. Jeff Saturday, Matt Birk, Tom Nalen, etc. Callahan turned Barrett Robbins into a Pro Bowl center. The Cowboys did the right thing allocating that money and resources to positions where God given talent is needed to perform the position at a high level ... left tackle, cornerback, pass rusher, etc.

Well, this is a divergent opinion.

Frankly, I think Costa fits in the middle of the spectrum. Maybe we can suggest to the powers to be that Mark Stepnowski be brought back as a coach.

Threads like this is funny, it's funny watching people trying to defend Costa

You can't look at stats cause those where horrible and you can't look at his numerous bad plays cause those where horrible too, but other then that he was ok'ish and if you don't see that you're stupid :laugh1:

The biggest "failure" in this entire argument is your post, which is par for the course. Forgive many of us if we would rather believe the coaching staff knows a little more than you do regarding Costa. Neither I, nor anyone else on this board, know whether Costa is the best option on the roster right now. However, I'm pretty sure those in charge know much better than any of us. If you disagree, why don't you submit your application as an oline coach to the front office of one of the NFL teams. Just a thought. You're obviously wasting your great abilities to scout NFL talent by posting on this board. ;)

You really only have to watch the first skins game to know that's not true, or does he mean Costa does them 4-5 times? Coach speak, it's so confusing :laugh1:
