RW had no chance in hell to make that tackle.Ozzu;1800490 said:We can thank Hamlin for that. He made a weak attempt at grabbing Grant's ankles and then proceeded to knock Roy out of the play.

He doesn't make a lot of big game changing plays like a lot of fans, including me, thought he would when we drafted him. So in that one sense he has been something of a disappointment.InmanRoshi;1803249 said:To me, it just epitomizes the difference between the player we drafted and the player he's become. The player we drafted out of OU had such phenomenal instincts and saw the game so much faster than everyone else you wondered if there weren't four players on the field wearing the #31 jerseys because he seemed to be everywhere at all times.
Now if a player runs 5 yards to the left of him there's "no chance in hell" he can make the tackle, because he doesn't react until the ballcarrier has practically run past him.
He still hits hard .. no doubt, as any large safety running free to the ball should, but when it comes to anticipation and instincts he's nowhere near the same player.

superpunk;1802800 said:(a) You also named a variety of FREE safeties, when you were asked to name Strong Safeties. There is a difference.
(b) Roy does not come out in "passing situations". He comes out in a specific personnel package we run that calls for only our FREE safety to be on the field, and he is not replaced by another safety.

Hamlin cut Roy on the play anyhow.
TEK2000;1803103 said:I think if I was Roy or Ken... I would have expected the Front 7 to at least slow him down a little and not allow him to run FULL SPEED straight through the middle of our defense and go virtually untouched.
That play is on our ILBers as much as it is on Roy and Ken.
Poor angles by both Ken and Roy... but our front 7 got completely blocked.
Great play where everything went perfectly for the Packers. It happens sometimes... ya know their guys get paid too.
Ken;1803459 said:yeah, after Grant was past him.
Our front 7 also deserves the blame. But when the last line of defense is our Safeties, they have to at least get a hand on him.
Hamelin was no better on that play. Actually worse.

He played ok...He's still average, nothing changes that...And the die hard Roy lovers proved it here. He had a Average game and people are acting like he played great lol.
Wake up call please

AdamJT13;1803248 said:They didn't react too slow. It was third-and-1, and they were both crashing toward the line of scrimmage. The problem was that Grant got through a pile-up at the line without even being touched. The safeties see a crowd of people and rush toward it thinking someone has Grant in the middle of that, but instead, he was running full speed right through it.
There's a reason that a lot of short-yardage runs break for long touchdowns.

He is good in the box where he can play like a Linebacker, a role he is great at.
