I would be more inclined to buy this reasoning if Carter hadn't gotten a personal foul on the very same play for giving Wilson a slight shove as he was going out of bounds.

I agree that was unfortunate. The game is so fast that it's difficult to assertain the gravity of an offence. Just as is the case on a good hit in the open field. I have seen countless times in this new "No Fun League" that if a player lands hard and is separated from the ball a flag is automaticly thrown even though the replay showed a shoulder to the chest hit.

Ok, maybe the hit was illegal. But when everyone sees this on the NFL Network and Sportscenter, all everyone will talk about is how the Cowboys went to Seattle and got their tails whipped - and this one play summed up the game perfectly. I know what to expect when I get to work tomorrow. My co workers will blow up this hit in a photo and having waiting for me at my desk. I hate losing but I especially hate it when a team physically punks us like they did.

No the hit wasn't legal but there was a time not too long ago when a hit like that was football.

That was a pathetic call. That penalty should have been called on Seattle. What probably happened was that the refs forgot that they can't give the Cowboys any chances. Rather than make the right call decided to place that call on Carter instead.

If I were Jones I would protest that call. That was absolute BS and the refs know it. I think they just didn't want to make the right call cause they were in Seattle.

It was an illegal hit, one that could well have altered the final outcome. The game was still within reach at that point (20-7 Hawks with 13:18 left). If the penalty was called correctly Seattle is looking at 2nd and 20+ from around their own 10 yd line. As it was, Seattle's next snap came for the Cowboy 49.

It's not a question of looking for excuses. The refs blew a critical, game changing call that could well have altered the final outcome. They compounded that error by throwing a flag on the same play against Bruce Carter for a personal foul that simply did not happen.

The real refs are smiling tonight.

The hit on Lee is an illegal blindside block. Lee is considered defenseless, which means you can't lower your head & hit in head/neck area

On a blindside block the player is defenseless and you can't lead with your helmet no matter where you hit him.
