Say what you will about Jerry and Stephen but they really tried with this kid and burned.

I would add that from what I hear, the reason he failed this test is because he was actually already checked in to this facility.

I know that leniency is not common with the NFL - but of all the reasons for them to grant an excuse....that seems like the one.

That's what I thought I'd heard reported, too. Interesting, anyway.

Having missed camp and then not being allowed to practice at earliest after a 4 week suspension, I'd say his 2016 is done.

The League will have to make an announcement though because Dallas will have to make roster moves when he is eligible to return.

I still lol at rehab for weed!

He doesn't need rehab, he needs a psychiatrist to figure out his mental illness.

Yeah it's not like is body goes through withdrawal.

-after 30 minutes-

"Alright guys I'm good"

This is what I was referrring to:

Dallas Cowboys suspended defensive end Randy Gregory will not play in 2016, ESPN reporter Todd Archer said.

Edited to add link to article so you don't have to scroll back up:

https://www.numberfire.com/nfl/player-news/27754/cowboys-randy-gregory-unlikely-to-play-in-2016

The rotoworld article says:

ESPN Cowboys reporter Todd Archer said the "sense is" suspended DE Randy Gregory will not play in 2016.

not quite the same thing and a definitive declaration. He is likely suspended for the season but its not been announced. as others have pointed out there might be mitigating circumstances.

The fact that he voluntarily entered rehab might bring the NFLPA to his aid. But, it would come down to what position the league wants to take. What are they more interested in? Punishment or players getting their lives in order? Seems to me that his sign of contrition would go a long way to sending a signal to the players, show you're serious about following the rules and we'll show we can be lenient. Seems obvious to me that Ganjory's problem is a hell of a lot deeper than getting high. Whether he ever plays again, I am pulling for this kid to get his life right because I believe he loves his Mom and doesn't want to break her heart anymore than he has.

Man, it is easy to get pissed at these players and forget those are human beings in those unis and just because they get paid well doesn't "fix" them. I know, my usual reaction is too think 'what a dummy to give all that up to get high' but doesn't that signal a deeper problem in his case?
Agreed. It is for this mature thinking that l can not understand the leagues policy regarding punishing players for addictions. They should rehab them and allow them to learn a living and entertain the fans. The league only hurts their own image and destroy players for no logical reason.

I have read the same types of information. I did read where 1 compound in Cannabis which is CBD can help with anxiety yet a major compound of cannabis which is THC is what gives a person of feeling of paranoia and anxiety. People trying to pass weed off as some cure or anxiety is like trying to put a band aid on a severed limb

Lol i didn't want to have to go here but FYI, I am a recovering addict/alcoholic n have been struggling with addiction for the better part of 10 years. My main vice has been opiates, started w sniffing oxycodone 30s during the first few ignorant years n then shifted to heron aka Satans Cinnamon lol, just my personal nickname.

Why? Bc well, the feeling a line and ESPECIALLY A shot of Heroin is literally the greatest, most euphoric feeling a human can experience- sex included.

N idk bout y'all, but if u were tu first experiment w a substance not knowibg wat to expect n then find out that it literally feels better than sex physically n then feel like ur the king of the universe mentally n emotionally, ya think it's easy to just cut it off n never do it again?

N obv no1 goes into it thinking they'll b a junkie ( like yours truly) and THAT is where 99% of ppl fail n become inhuman monsters.

THIS is why I'm convinced that Heroin is no more Than a case of The Devil playing his games n working his Trickery on us poor sods....

As Fr Reefer, I started smoking in 9tg grade and was smoking every day from age 14 to 23 before I quit, n u kno why I chose to quit? BECAUSE I WAS GETTING RIDICULOUSLY PARANOID WITH HEAVY ANXIETY...so i am DEFFF not saying Weed helps relieve ones anxiety.

I'm saying if Randy Gregory believes Reefer helps his psychological condition (which I read ON HERE that it was something that dealt him serious anxiety, hence y I brought up the benzos...), then I'd much rather him smoke a harmless natural herb over taking an addictive, schedule 2 level controlled substance that can be fatal if the user tries to cut themselves off the benzos after long term, heavy usage...

I'll be surprised if Randy Gregory plays in the NFL again, let alone anytime this year. jeez what a wasted pick

I think the most they can suspend him for is 14 games, which is pretty much the season. If he fails again he will be suspended for a year. And is subject to unannounced random drug testing for the rest of his career. He will fail again. I hope not but if he is having this much trouble.

Wow! Really? Not sure I'd go so far as to say he'll never play again in the League. Hopefully he doesn't throw away his playing future like Justin Blackmon.

At least "Dez with all his brain cells" gave the Jags fans a few productive games on his way out.
