agree to disagree amigo
How? Is it not obvious that Bell received different sentencing for the same crime? Do you believe that Gregory's crime was more heinous in some way? Not trying to be argumentative, I just want your take on it. For the record, I am not pro marijuana, I tend to lean the same way you do. I just believe that if a year is good for our guy it should be good for everyone's.

Nothing will change, he will be suspended for a year. As much as many of us would like to have that draft pick back, he is a Cowboy for now...many people with addiction issues falter, and I'm guessing the absolute worst thing you can do with a person with addiction issue is toss them aside like the NFL is doing in this case...unfortunately thats how the NFL operates, they prefer to "have their heads buried in their ***", look how they deal with player safety when it comes to concussions and CTE. If all Gregory is doing is smoking some pot, then so what, alcohol is far worse, CTE is far worse, the pain meds many are forced to take just to play are worse...society needs to get over the silly obsession that weed is the worst thing for a person, seriously it's just a plant that grows on earth and has been here as long as man, needs no lab or factory to make it into a finished product. Yet this league is so dismissive of real issues, like domestic violence, why is the NFL the one sport that seems to have far more instances of domestic violence? as an example, or in Floyds case, DUI's, thats far worse than pot..and my personal favorite was, the NFL's golden boy QB in Philadelphia buying guns for his offensive linemen and it being reported about on every sports news site and being discussed during the FOX broadcast, and THAT'S OK, a sport with disproportionate amount of players involved in domestic violence incidents seemingly has no problem with players buying each other guns...just so I am not flamed, I have no problem with guns or him buying guns, I have a problem with how the league allowed it to be broadcast the way it was. And its been obvious to me for years that the NY Giants and Pittsburgh does get beneficial treatment from the league, and there is a definite anti Cowboy sentiment from some teams, my guess is it boils down to money, I'm sure some of these owners are troubled that Jerry has not won a darn thing in 20 years and the Cowboys continue to be one of the most valuable sports franchises world wide with a fan base that stretches across the globe. End of rant.

Goodell sold out before he took this job. Its part of the job. He is no union man!! He only represents the owners. We are discussing two completely different things. Upshaw, was a Player and had personal accountability to the players. Goodell is just a shrill for ownership! I have some respect for Upshaw...he " probably" did his best. Goodell makes me sick..he is a hypocrite and his " interests" are those of his owners. Its not complicated..outside of understanding what Owners have the most power?

Just a focus point...think Jerry is non-existent and a yes man?

No, you are what you choose in a situation...and 'yes' men aren't all ignorant and without ability to refocus.

Policy isn't just a parlor game...with NO success and legal standing for the Union. There is more on the table for the Union in the present. History of stepping up to the table, is to their advantage.

Ownership has to be pushed into being responsive to the real player needs...except for mavericks with balls, as with Jerry Jones. Just an example of the ability still available for choice, at non-owner levels of the pie.

Just ask that same NFL 'ownership' if they didn't laugh all the way to the bank through the successes that Jerry forced upon the NFL.

It makes zero sense for the NFL to test for marijuana. Nobody cares. They all smoke it. This just makes the league look bad. They are just letting the cat out of the bag that most of these players are thugs and the kind of people you wouldn't befriend in the real world.

Think Jerry gives a crap about Gregory?
You don't? Because I do. I was listening to the Break this afternoon and Broaddus was telling the story of Josh Brent. Josh Brent is still part of the organization/family as a scout (I believe). Josh Brent made a mistake and is responsible for taking a life. He served time and the Cowboys took him back when the easiest thing to do was cut ties with him. Also note that he wasn't a superstar, but a rotational guy. There was no motive (that I can think of) in bringing him back, but to show sympathy to a guy who made a mistake.

Floyd was caught live on camera driving so drunk he PASSED OUT behind the wheel. And yet he'll be catching passes from Tom Brady in the playoffs. It's insane.
He has the right to an appeal just like Gregory did...... Gregory supposedly missed this test in Nov and didn't have his appeal until Tues

Floyd was arrested Dec 15th.....NE just took a chance on a slow process

Keep telling yourself that, when it brought the NFL down to it's knees with a blow to the jaw. (forced a lockout) Then there are billions being spent for player injury protections right now...following the 'bloody mornin' after.

that isn't from the PA, it is from insurance companies and the fear of lawsuits

you truly believe that the NFLPA is avant garde re safety issues? Please.

if it truly cared for all of its members, it wouldn't defend guys like Bell while doing nothing for Gregory

Get back to me when you show your scars from dog bites in Alabama...marching for basic human rights. Yea, how long ago?

I'm going to break my "most" rule. But most people who pontificate on matters they don't understand fail to grasp that there may be issues at play that they fully don't understand because they're not insiders and aren't privy to the complexity of issues. We're all commenting based on the limited information we have. We don't have as much information as the league has about this issue nor as much information as Jerry Jones has.
So I'm just going to wait it out.
I support the NFL's drug policy, even if it hurts the team I support.

Jerry ONLY cares about his money
He uses his chips only when the NFL threatens his purse
He does not go against the league otherwise
Other owners like Mara and Kraft care more about winning and fight for the team

Get used to it
The owner of our favorite team is a snake oil salesman
