Has to be said on bringing back Murray

Murray 2013+2014
609 attempts, 2966 yards, 22 rushing touchdowns, 9 fumbles

Peterson 2012+2013
627 attempts, 3364 yards, 22 rushing touchdowns, 9 fumbles

You put Peterson on this offense, and his numbers are certainly better than in Minnesota, who doesn't have as good an offensive line, or q, or Dez bryant...

Hell, if Terrance Williams went to Minnesota he would probably be their #1 receiver...

Neither can you. AP didn't play last season. He's now a year older. There is nothing saying he will leave the Vikes either, If he's such a super star why would they let him walk? Aren't they supposed to have an up and coming QB? Why would you not keep the best back ever to help him along?

The Vikings need to rebuild, they have running backs who can carry the load for much cheaper, and keeping AP will cost an arm and a leg. There may also be bad blood between him and the front office.

Compare the last two years for both players, and tell me that Peterson isn't the better back. You can't do it.

DeMarco Murray(2013 & 2014)
3732 yds from scrimmage
23 TDs
8 fumbles
1 fumble for every 89 touches

Adrian Peterson(2012, 2013 & 2014)
3844 yds from scrimmage
24 TDs
9 fumbles
1 fumble for every 79 touches

Murray's numbers have trended up while Peterson's have trended down. I can say Murray is better at this time.

Wow, honestly even with Peterson's monster year the numbers are a lot closer than I expected. I think you just made the case for keeping Murray and forgetting about Peterson, his age and his baggage.

I don't keep up with them but a friend of mine is a lifelong fan. According to him he's staying put. No bad blood and they aren't to concerned with his charges. I really don't care. I'm a keep our core together guy.
I just don't get the hype for the guy. Every one says Murrays wheels are going to fall off, I see no reason why they would.
More than that I like the way he helps keep Romo alive, lets face it with out Romo that offense don't click any ways.

Even before he was suspended by the team, he was calling Jerry Jones wanting out of Minnesota...

And if you don't get the big deal about him please watch this and tell me he isn't by far the better player compared to Murray

He is bigger, faster, more physical, and more athletic than Murray... and it isn't close...

That was from 2012. It is now 2015. Not the same player.

I have seen him play. If he called Jerry (which I doubt) he probably figured Jerry is dumb enough to pay his huge numbers.
He must not realize Jerry is starting to pay attention to his peers.

Even with Peterson's monster year?

You're ignoring Murray's monster year, which was an outlier for his career, and not coming off ACL+MCL surgery.

Peterson isn't the future, but he is the present. At right now he is a much better running back than Murray. You put him behind this line, and he takes things to the house all the time. You give him Romo and Murray, and you can't dedicate as much focus on the line of scrimmage....

I like your posts and passion. I really think you are going to have hurt feelings when we resign Murray.

Only way I'd get hurt feelings over resigning murray is if peterson was available and we give murray big money in order to stay.

I just can't see giving Murray a huge contract because all running backs decline and it's just a matter of when.

Lol right... That's no different than saying "hey look at these 5 Super Bowl trophies we won almost 20 years ago". No one wants to hear that mess.

We live in a "what have you done for me lately" world.

Probaby my biggest concern as well.

To me, it's simple. We either
1) Pay Murray
2) Replace with low cost alternative
3) AP if available

I agree, It is about the money. I don't think Peterson will be cheap, either. I also think people will be disappointed if Peterson does come to Dallas and fails to meet these unrealistic expectations.

I don't understand your point. What has Peterson done for anyone lately? He basically didn't play in 2014. While his totals in 2013 were respectable they weren't incredible as some think he will be in Dallas. At the same time Murray has done something pretty good for Dallas lately.

Edit: The point came across after I re-read your post. Thanks.

And God, when the production goes down, it happens almost instantly and the drop off is pretty rough.

Yeah. You didn't get my point. I was pretty much agreeing with you.

Let me make it clear. When I am sitting around with fans from various other franchises, my pride in the Dallas Cowboys flows ever so heavily. However, I never bring up the 5 Super Bowls as a badge of honor or as a counterpoint in a conversation. That was ages ago.... It's silly to me to argue it.

I feel the same about someone bringing up things AP has done in the past. He has been a great running back in the NFL but history does show that father time usually wins every single time. We have a great option in Demarco about to go into the prime of his career. I'm going to take that option over a potential AP return to what he was doing a few year back every single time. He is no spring chicken.
