Why? That is easy...
Why? That is easy...
Exactly. Using stats to judge this offense is meaningless.
The most important aspect of winning is scoring more than the other team. Scoring is far from the most important offensive stat, however. TOP, YPC, TO's, TD's per drive, those are all just as important, if not moreso.
Scoring can be misleading as defenses score on turnovers and special teams score on returns which might not reflect the effectiveness of a defense or offense. To me the most important offensive stat is scoring
That’s the only one that really matters
And we struggled bad in the redzone last year
That is one area Moore has to get fixed
Convert one more of those FG to TD and you are in the top 10. Convert 2 more and you are in the top 5
per nfl.com the cowboys don’t have a top 10 offense despite having a top rb, top tier wr, top tier oline and top 10 qb...boggles the mind

Which certainly explains his lack of 4th quarter comebacks....
It's homerism because the team was the 22nd ranked offense last year (only like the 19th with Cooper) and now have an OC that has never called a game before in his life, never built a game plan himself and has one year under his belt of coaching AT ANY LEVEL.
Frederick alone isn't good enough to overcome that. I am not sure why people are surprised that in looking forward, people aren't dropping their pants in excitement over the Cowboys offense.
Maybe they will be downright awesome offensively in 2019. But right now, if one is being rational, there are some real serious questions for an offense that wasn't all that good just a year ago.
The offense was ranked that bad because of going scoreless in that Colts game.
And yeah like I said above......I’m not hyping up the Cowboys offense I just don’t think nothing special of the Colts and Eagles offense. I’ve seen the Cowboys offense look solid last season with Linehan looking terrible.
Those comebacks represent he’s a clutch performer. The bigger question might be why are we needing to come from behind so often?Which certainly explains his lack of 4th quarter comebacks....
Great post! I'm not sure why people have confidence in Moore and think he will save this offense. Hope I'm wrong and Moore turns out to be great but if Im a betting man Im all in that this is going to be a mess. Maybe if you had a Romo type QB that could makeup for the lack of coaching but we know Dak isnt able to.
YepIt really does.
Think about it, Stash. There have been a pile of teams who tried to win using points as the emphasis. They pretty much all lost to ball control D teams. SD and MINN in the 70's, BUFF in the 90's, ATL year before last, DEN before the ywent D, Oilers, INDY w/ PManning, GB w/ Rodgers. Using points as the emphasis will win your division and get you to the playoffs, but then you will fizzle out as the ball control teams win it.
I look just at offensive scoringScoring can be misleading as defenses score on turnovers and special teams score on returns which might not reflect the effectiveness of a defense or offense.
And why total yards has always been the official measurement the NFL uses to measure offenses and defenses rankings.
Not me. No tactics here, just what I've observed over many many years of too much football watching!!!!(Ask the wifey!!).Oh this new tactic of trying to downplay our offensive ineptitude in 2018 by claiming it's ball control and that's what happens and that's why you can't use stats to judge them is bull..............
Our "ball control" offense in 2016 was 5th in NFL scoring that year. So no, our nature of offense does not preclude us from being a top scoring offense.
That’s the first I’ve heard of Moore bringing in a college spread offense . InterestingI view Moore this way - I don't have a ton of confidence in a first time OC with only one year of coaching at any level being able to hit the ground running and design and call a great offense........... however, his resume and the belief he's bringing college spread ideas to the team makes it a fascinating story to follow.
Absolutely. However, if you score too quickly, you'll gas your D and will lose late in the game. Scoring is only one part of the equation.I look just at offensive scoring
But all stats can be misleading over a whole season
But if you have a solid defense and can score 28 points a game you will win lots of gsmes
Using your eyes and common sense. A team that is run first and wants to control the clock is going to have worse stats then someone who is pass first and have more offensive possessions.Really? What's a better method? Hope?
