Let us not beat around the bush here. We have been a mediocre team that has regressed while most of the league has gotten better. Even if you are just standing still, the rest of the league will pass you by. And we have been going backwards.

So, how bad are we going to be? I think 4 to 5 wins tops. I think the team will play hard for the coach. I think Romo is past his prime, can't move like he once did and is no longer a top tier quarterback. I think the defense will be horrible, albiet probably not as statistically as bad as last year, because the offense wont force our opponents to attack us as much to beat us.

I think Garrett is gone after this year. I think our scouting department, however, is one of our real weaknesses, but our owner continues to trust the same old geezers hes had for 100 years.

Speaking of our owner, I think he is entering senility. Not to be harsh, but I expect decisions to get worse from here on out. I think Jerry as to the point where he is ok with losing, as long as the franchise becomes more valuable. Hes happy with his investment. But all the testosterone and vitality that led to those 90s championships, that is all gone now.

Stephen is a muppet of his father, so I don't see much changing there. Even when Jerry passes, Stephen will run the team in the same, "owner knows best," philosophy.

I know this thread seems harsh. But, Im not complaining actually. I am also not going to stop being a fan. I am just resolved to the fact that there is a decent chance the Cowboys won't win another championship in the next 20 years. Seriously.

I'm sure someone will e-mail you the results after Feburary 1, 2015.
Thanks for giving up before it began. Guess you are not a popcorn eater.

9-7 because of the ineptitude of the NFCE. As many issues as we might have, we are significantly better than Washington and New York and good enough to split with Philly. I see it coming down to the last month again with Philly getting the edge.

Bad. Obviously not a contender.

The one hope is the NFC east is a bad division. Giants and Commanders appear to be in similar spots as us. Although the Giants have proven they can beat good teams when everything is clicking but they have a lot of new parts.

The eagles are the favorite. I thought they had a chance to run away from the division with a big offseason. I do not think they had that offseason. Also as of now, I don't consider Foles an elite QB. He just plays in a good system. I expect philly to win the division but still think there are several teams better in the NFC.

I'm sure I'm wasting my time posting a serious response that disagrees with this doom and gloom, but I just can't believe how many fans are predicting 4-6 wins this year.

We won EIGHT games last year, and that was with the worst defense ever.

We had one of the league's top offenses in 2013 and we should be at least as good this year, if not better (which I believe we will be). The defense should be improved. Young hungry players, plus a new DC and a squad that now has a full year of the 4-3 under their belt.

Unless we have another ridiculous rash of injuries we should be in the 8-10 win range. We'll see.

No we are not. We are a below average team with no depth. Our in-game coaching is sub-par, our QB is oldish and less mobile. We have a decent OL, in theory, a decent receiving corps, in theory and an average running back. Our defense was one of the worst in history last year and is missing 3 of its best players from that squad.

I know we want to believe. But this thread is about talking the truth.

Ok then talk the truth. You said in your opening post "most of the league has gotten better". Really? The whole league has gotten better? Uhh the Falcons are a shell of the team they were 2 years ago. The Giants also. The Skins have a myriad of issues and also problems at QB. Injuries are already haunting GB and STL. The vaunted Niners are finding out Kap ain't all that and they have defensive personnel issues to go with the weaker offense. I'm not even touching on the AFC where I guarantee at least the Chiefs will be worse this year.

So bag on our Cowboys if you want, but please don't act like a truth teller when you throw out an invalid statement like most of the league has gotten better. It hasn't by a long shot.

Agree with everything you said but prepare to be annihilated by the rainbows and lollipops crowd. 5-11

So you sticking with 6-10 but 10-6 with Johnny 8-ball? Or is it 3-13 now I can't keep up.

We win at least 8 with the caveat that Romo and Dez stay healthy and playing.

6-10, maybe 5-11.

Defense could easily be worse than last year.

How bad? REALLY REALLY BAD if Romo can't bail us out this year. Our D is so horrible all a team has to do is run the ball against us. Dude it may get Detroit Lions 1-16 bad if Romo is out this year.

With all the 4 to 6 win predictions.....
So I guess we can be the 1st 6-10 team to win the division, and be peaking at playoff time, to win the SB....I'll take that...

Yeah. A defense which lost its' best three players. And yet some people somehow expect improvement.

Of course you do. Your sense of fandom requires it

The defense should be improved. Young hungry players, plus a new DC and a squad that now has a full year of the 4-3 under their belt.

Once again, fandom over facts. Unproven is now 'young and hungry'. A guy who was here for the worst ever is now a 'new DC'. Even though he's running the same scheme his good buddy did. The one that set those records for futility.

Unless we have another ridiculous rash of injuries we should be in the 8-10 win range. We'll see.

We already have our 'rash of injuries' and we haven't played a game yet.

We still have no idea of what our front seven is supposed to look like and we're less than two weeks away.

We WILL see...

Not sure why people keep saying this, while it was a horrible defense last year it wasn't "the worst defense ever"

Is 11-5 considered bad?
