How bad was the Tyler Booker pick?

He’s ok

But how many stupid first round picks on the line do you need???
Booker avg offensive lineman, should have drafted a pass rusher and traded Parsons before the draft, could have had more 1st rd picks but our stupid front office didnt do it

He wasn’t a few years go? Don’t Monday morning QB like that….dude was an all pro at one point, yes people thought he was a good player for building a good D…..didn’t totally expect him to fall off after he got paid.
Look at my post history about Diggs before showing your ignorance
I didnt want us to extend him
Just because you don’t understand football doesn’t mean no one does

It’s difference making in the run game and pass protection . Would I rather have had a healthy Booker today or UDFA Bass while Williams was continually stacked up like a delivery of fire wood
Point is that on a team with holes galore, you have to prioritize some positions over others. Booker was a luxury pick in the top half of round 1. Guard is one of the easier positions to fill in the NFL. The offense has been just fine without him.

It was some kind of PFF record for most yards ever given up by a CB. While the media voted him all-pro, PFF didn't have him in the top 50.
I didn't know that, but I'm not surprised. Diggs is not a good CB and never has been good.

He reminds me of a RB who breaks a 60 yd run once a game, but averages 1.3 Yards for his other 19 carries.

When Dallas starts drafting “ need “ it leads to Ekuban Carver Trysten Hill Mazi Smith Sam Williams Bobby Carpenter. If the best player on Dallas board left was Booker I have no problems with him

Diggs is coming off a knee injury keep in mind..

But…

Diggs is a great man corner.

Zone not so much.

Tackling? Maybe the worst I’ve ever seen.

He may end up being a heck of a player for us but my gosh did we not need a guard with our first pick.

We are more then fine with what we have.

The Texas corner should’ve been our pick or some other defensive player.

I hate to Monday morning QB this thing but that pick is looking bad & has nothing to do with the player but the position he plays.
Yup need matters

Yup need matters

For me it’s not even need.

Had he been a tackle or some off the charts guard I’d be ok with it.

Heck even around draft time I was ok with it because the Cowboys were acting like Revel would be ready around the start of the season.

But there were linebackers & Nickel corners available that have more value to this team than a guard had.

I have no doubt Booker is a good Guard prospect & will likely be a 10 year starter for us but Dallas did a poor job evaluating their own team per usual.

We can match up & down the field without Booker but our defense is poorly coached & talentless on top of that.

A decent coach could have us as the 20th - 25th best defense but we didn’t even get that right.

Just to rub it in, here's some Tyler Warren highlights.

Credit to Shane Steichen on that first play... a lot of teams say they want a dynamic receiving TE, then they just have their shiny new toy catch hitch routes and block (see every Cowboys 2nd round TE of the past 30 years). Not a lot of coaches have the balls to motion their "receiving weapon" to FB, then send him deep on a 20 yard flag route. And Warren is fast enough to pull it off.

Then Warren goes out and plays like a dawg as a lead blocker. That dominant blocking + deep receiving combo is some Gronkowski type unicorn stuff.

Yeah we needed Booker as this game showed why Hoffman and company are backups
Could we have done as well with second rd pick? Probably
but to call it a bad pick is typical fan boy stupidity

Really, we have to go back to 1997? Sam Williams was a 2nd round pick. He doesn't belong in this group of first round busts.

This team follows its draft board and positional NEED is one of the considerations. Sure we needed a G. We just didn't need one in round 1. You don't make that pick when your returning one of the worst defenses in the NFL.

It doesnt mean if he turns out to be great. We could win with the guys we already have at guard. Look at Hoffman and Bass. You dont see a difference if they play or Booker plays. Wasted draft capital instead of going Defense

I thought Golden should have been the pick. A young kid to pair with CD for multiple years, that is the only issue with getting pickens is he's only here a year now we have to give up more resources on another WR next offseason.
