If Dallas loses against skins (unlikely but possible):

1. TEN 3-13 (plays at Indy) (SOS .492)
2. CLE 3-13 (home against Steelers) (SOS .534)
3. SD 4-12 (at Denver) (SOS .523)
4. Dallas 4-12 (home against Commanders) (SOS .538)
5. Miami 5-11 (home against NE) (SOS .449)
6. Jacksonville 5-11 (at Houston) (SOS .469)
7. Dallas 5-11 (home against Commanders) (SOS .538)
8. San Fran 5-11 (at home against Rams) (SOS .552)[/quote]

I'm not opposed to Hargreaves or Jack in the first and Henry in the 2nd if he falls. I'm not sure any of the qbs out there are really dominant enough to use such a high pick. You could possibly follow a model like the Cardinals or even Jets, who have vet qbs but an extremely solid defense. A very strong run game and a tough defense could hold us over and put us in a situation where we don't have to waste a high draft pick on qb. If there was a prospect like mariota, winston, newton, or wilson, sure, but with the comparisons the top qbs are getting, I'm not sure I want to use a high pick on that.

The good news is not so much a top5 1st round pick, but a top5 pick in each round. 3 top100 picks is a good place to be.

Everyone gets 3 Top 100 picks.

DAL would get 3 in the first 70 or so, 4 in the Top 100ish.

Since when did Dallas get 2 picks in the 1st?

Take two QBs!

Cowboys aren't taking a QB with a top 10 pick. Everyone needs to get past that.

LB or DB in the Top 5 is so blah.......if a top QB is there you have to take him or trade with someone who wants him more

Drafting a DB is about the dumbest thing they could possibly do, which means it's going to happen.

No offense to you in particular, but you don't just trade down, you need another team to play ball.

Yes. We're speaking hypothetically. I would assume if the Cowboys don't want Goff, they'd find a trade partner with the 49ers. Maybe someone else trades up for a coveted player.

That's what makes the draft intriguing. :)

What have all the other picks over the years done to help us get to the SB?? It's time to get a QB first round.

We need to draft a QB. But drafting one just for the sake of drafting one isn't the way to go. You draft your board like we have done recently. If the circumstances are right then take one. If not, take one anyway because we have to draft a QB? No.

Should be 4 in the top 105 or around there. There's usually not very many 3rd Rd comp picks handed out and the Patriots thing puts us 1 pick earlier. With competent drafting, that could be 4 starting caliber players.

Edit: This is also a forgotten issue with people against drafting a QB in the first round. The argument is it wastes a premium pick on a guy who may not play for 3 years. The flip side is usually a team only has 3 premium picks each year. We're in the position of bordering on 4. You could still get 3 starting quality players and a QB.

All of that is dependent on the QBs grading out well by our scouts. If they are top 10 rated on our board, I think they absolutely need to take them. If they are in the 15-20 range or lower, either try to trade down or draft the BPA.

If the QB is top 15 but we draft 4 you don't take him even if that means he is a long term starter.

There is no other way to find a good QBs besides hitting the late draft UDFA lottery.

Pass rushers and LTs we have. We can buy other positions.

Needs? No way. You don't put a QB on your board unless he is worth it, you know his draft grade. You don't just put someone up that high for the hell of it.

The most important position in sports is QB. I draft them high until I find one. With a franchise QB, the sky is the limit. There are 2 or 3 QBs projected 1st rounders. One of those should come here.
