This has to be the silliest statement I have read yet concerning this trade.

So Coach Parcells has a vendetta against Hunter now and is trading him despite the team's best interest?

Get a grip, people.

ok you think Parcells really not selling us out huh?

facts of sell out:

Reggie Swinton: Traded to Green Bay>What was the deal?> If Packers kept Reggie Swinton for one week without cutting him the Cowboys get a 6th Round Draft Choice>The Outcome> Packers released him>What happen?> He went to the Detroit Lions>What was the lost for the Cowboys?> A valuable kick-off returner...

Derek Ross: A third-round conerback cut in the middle of the season> What people say?> So I don't care, look at him now he can't fit in with no team> What's the deal?> The deal is coming into that season he was a projected starter on the other side of Newman> What he could do with the Cowboys?> He played in a system bend but don't break, which he baited Wide Receivers and pick off passes...

Mario Edwards: Did not sign back> WHY?> Because Parcells thought he had a steady conerback core...

Quincy Carter: Just simply released Quincy Carter> What people saying?> he smoke pot he this he's that...>But what's the reallity check of it> He took us to the playoffs... <MESSAGE> You see the fans and the front office problems is guess what if yall judge off-the-field Characters you won't get no where.. Quincy was a contributer...

Antonio Bryant: Traded him to the Cleveland Browns> Why?> Don't know> For Who?> Quincy "The inconsistent catching wide receiver slash consistent injury prone" Morgan...NEED I SAY MORE..

I 100% agree. Plus does anyone think that the Jets just offered us this trade and we went 'duh OK'? Don't you think that they tried to move Hunter for a while now? I'd bet any team that was interested was willing to wait and see if we just cut him. The Jets however have CB issues and need the help. They were the one's willing to give up something, which is ALWAYS better than nothing.

I think this conspiracy theory is a bit far fetched. Parcells is doing what he thinks is best for the team, IMO.

All of these moves had justification, at the time. Moving Hunter wasn't a bad move. It was probably the right move. The fact that some of us wished he would have worked out does not change the validity of the move it self.

What happened to the truism that you can never have enough CBs? Hunter is good insurance in case Glenn fades or is injured. I hope Bill is right in assuming Reeves and or Frazier will be ready.

-Gent

Well....no less ready than Petey H. realistically

What do you mean "will be" ready. Heck Frazier was ready last year. I thought he played well considering their was no pass rush and our free safeties were just ****.

We have some nice depth at corner... even without Hunter. It gives Thornton or Jones a chance to stick because I think we go with 6 corners.

Newman
Henry
Glenn
Frazier
and pick 2 out of Thornton, Jones and Reeves.

Young man I couldn't agree more. A friend of mine and myself constantly banter on the play of Frazier. I think the dude is good.

Cowboys | Draft Pick for Hunter will be Conditional
Thu, 14 Jul 2005 10:37:55 -0700

Updating previous reports, DallasCowboys.com's Rob Phillips reports the trade of Dallas Cowboys CB Peter Hunter to the New York Jets will finalize later today. When completed, the Cowboys will acquire a late-round draft choice in either 2006 or 2007 based on Hunter's performance with the Jets.

Darn. I was hoping it wouldn't be conditional.

Breaking news: Hunter sucks.

How many oppurtunities should he get? We tried that route before. Stand up Mr. Ekuban.

The only conspiracy theory here is why people have blind homer love for a player that has given us no on-field reason to believe...

I don't believe Hunter sucked. Once he got his arm cast off he improved dramatically as a third corner. Last year Bill installed Hunter as a starting CB after training camp. Since he was injured, we don't know how it would've panned out, but apparently Bill thought he would do OK.

JETS GET DB HUNTER FROM COWBOYS FOR CONDITIONAL PICK: The Jets are aggressively trying to fix the cornerback position on reports that Donnie Abraham is once again thinking about retiring.

They acquired cornerback Pete Hunter from the Dallas Cowboys for a conditional pick, believed to be a seventh-rounder, Thursday. Hunter, who started six games over three seasons with the Cowboys, was in the process of moving to safety before the trade. The Jets also have resumed conversations with former Patriots cornerback Ty Law. Law has the interest of eight teams, but he is still hoping for a $6 million a year contract.

The Jets' interest in Hunter started about six weeks ago. He will work at right cornerback on the other side of David Barrett.

At 6-feet-2, 208 pounds, Hunter is a big cornerback who can be physical. He passed his physical Thursday, which finalized the trade.

Last year, Hunter suffered a season-ending knee injury and went on injured reserve Sept. 30. A restricted free agen

I think it is safe to say that since we spent millions on Henry and also got Glenn that we were not convinced he would have done "OK".

It is not this team did not have holes. But since we chose to address RCB almost immediately this offseason, I think that speaks volumes about how the organization perceived Pete Hunter's prospects to be a solution or even a bit part of the equation.

Spags just on ticket said they get a 5th in 2006 if Hunter plays this year, a 7th in 2007 if he smells it up.

I agree. But we are talking about Hunter as a fourth corner. I feel like he was a good solution there, especially considering he was considered a starter last year. Apparently the Jets think he is a bit part of the equation.

If Bill believes he has something in Reeves, then it's a good move, assuming we actually do get a draft pick in exchange.

Just my opinion, folks

I know one thing, I'm pulling for the guy. If he makes the team, that 7th rounder in 07 becomes a 5th next year.

"Go Ralphie!"
