I think management felt they were already prepared for a championship going into this draft.

There are still moves that can be made but that OL, RB and WR corps look very thin. The Cowboys need an injury free season.

It’s really tough to measure in April. I think another aspect we must also measure is how has the rest of the NFC improved .

Egirls definitely improved. But how many other NFC teams leap frogged us? I’m not sure.

Detroit looks improved . I’m not sure how many other NFC teams have moved up. We shall see.

The bad news is being in same division with NFC favorite we will probably be on the road in the playoffs . We’d be favorites to win any other division in NFC.
Dallas and Seatttle are competing for the 4th best team.

Philly, Detroit, and the 9ers are top 3.

So we will be basically a 5th seed again. Tough getting to championship game when you have to win 2 playoff games on the road.

Unless we can upset the fav to win NFC again to take our division we will be playing all of our playoff games on the road again which is extremely tough getting to a championship game.

If we continue having 2nd best record and 5th seed I’m sure Jethro will be lobbying to change seedings away from division winners. Lol

Henry? Really?
Did you learn nothing from the whole Zeke fiasco? We are still paying him. Bring8ng in a guy like Henry who is about to start that same slide would be the absolute dumbest thing we could possibly do.

Sure we may have drafted some good players.

This draft was a total nuts and bolts draft. It’s cool we improved on a already elite NFL defense.

But…

Dallas biggest weakness was offensive playmakers and all we really did was add Brandon Cooks.

The guard spot is still weak.

I think if they go with their best 5 then that means Tyler back at guard and Tyron back at left Tackle.

I just don’t see a team as it’s currently constructed that’s competing with the Eagles for the division or the conference.

My hope is they have something up there sleeve.

It’s hard for me to believe that Ronald Jones is really going to be their #2 back.

The Cowboys are also really giving Tolbert an opportunity to shine with not giving him any real competition.

My hope is that Dallas will somehow pull off a miracle trade and get Derrick Henry in here.

The Titans are not a contender and Henry kinda changes everything for us. Immediately makes us a legit Super Bowl contender.
Question. For several years in the last 30 Dallas had what many said was the best OL in football. What did it do for us? You don’t have to have the best OL in the NFL to compete for a championship. If we have 2-3 really good guys, and 2-3 average guys on the OL, that is more than enough to win.

Agree. The team that walked off the field in San Francisco needed 2 or 3 speedy playmakers and a run stopper or two. I don't think we did enough.
Disagree. Even with Pollard going down, If Dak doesn't throw two picks we win that game. We did add a run stopper in Manzi and a speedy playmaker in Deuce.

For the last 25 years or so we haven’t had a QB that we took in round 1.

Having a great Oline is kinda all we can hope for if the front office won’t go get us a QB

Jk, all I'll say is everybody was saying the same kinds of things about the offseason and draft last yr. And most had them .500 at best. They were 12-5.

While it might seem to fans now that it's just a waste , you gotta wait until games are played to know for sure what you got.

When most thought the got nothing.

They turned nothing into

Tyler Smith
Sam Williams
Jake Ferguson
Matt Waletzko
Daron Bland
Damone Clark
Devin Harper

Oh wait then there was the udfa
Markquese Bell
Malik Davis
Peyton Hendershot
Alex Lindstrom

Idk bout you, but for me that's a hell of a draft class. In don't know if they'll have the same kinds of success but they get the benefit of the doubt.

How many rookie players are going to make a positive impact on the teams that drafted them this year? 1? 2?

The fact is drafts pay dividends 2 or 3 years down the road. Few players make that much of an impact as rookies.

I dare you to go look at daks stats and production and turnovers 2016-2018 and 2019-to present

Then go and do the same thing for Elliot and then teams ypc as a whole for both time periods

Then go and do the same thingfor sacks given up by the ol in the same time periods.

I know you won't do it so I'll give you what happened that offseason before the 2019 season. The season that daks started turning the ball over more, elliots decline started, the ol started giving up more sacks. Kellen Moore was named OC. How does all that all start happening the same year he starts calling the shots on O.

Cowboys added what they needed to solidify the defense. Offense is still a huge question mark. Dak needs the line to be dominant and we didn’t do anything to improve there. Hope Dalton Risner is brought in.
Broncos not re-signing a four-year starter, who's only missed 4 games out of a maximum 66 (2 each in 2021 and 2022), plus has only been penalized seven times?
What is Risner seeking for his second contract?

Meh, unless you somehow end up drafting a freak like Parsons, a rookie (or class of rookies for that matter) isn’t going to be what puts you over the top in terms of competing for a championship.

What we need are some 2nd and 3rd year players to “make the leap”, and other offseason moves to pan out (i.e., Gilmore, Cooks), stay healthy, and a little bit of luck.

Nah..

You don’t screw yourself over in a deal.

He’s a force of nature and with him and Pollard we can take games out of Dak’s hands.

Henry on a 1 or 2 year deal would change things around here for a couple seasons and make us a legit threat for the Super Bowl.

The NFC is weak. Philly is making moves.

Dallas needs to do the same.

Not improving the OL is wild to me.

The same folks that crapped on last year’s draft are complaining about this year.

Jerry doesn’t get it any longer - the nfl is a splash league - splash plays with splash players .

Our draft is whatever..

It didn’t change our team really at all.

We maybe made an elite defense even more elite? Cool..

If defense still won championship’s that would be awesome but unfortunately the rules make the game all about big plays and we didn’t improve our line much or add players that make the team more explosive.
