There I said.
I think we blew it by not going after Justin Fields in the offseason. Trading for Lance hasn't worked out, and now we're stuck with an overpaid QB and not enough talent around him.
Fields could have pushed Dak to step up his game and given us some much-needed leverage. Instead, we're left wondering "what if?" as other teams thrive with younger QB talent.
Did we miss our chance to get a equal or better QB that is cheaper than Dak? I think so.
Dak has his flaws, but it's nonsense to think Fields could push him. There is a reason Chicago was willing to let him go. He is not "equal or better" than Dak. Plus that, he only had one year left on his contract.
I too wish we had gotten Fields instead of Lance.
The Steelers got Fields for a 6th...for a guy with plenty of starting experience, and we paid a 4th for a guy that's never done anything.
Shows the difference between a shrewd front office....and Jerry.
My TOP choice would have been neither one of them, but if ur going to get 1, at least don't give up a 4th rd-er
This is a bogus take because you aren't talking apples to apples at all.
First, there was no choice between Lance and Fields. The two weren't available at the same time. Fields was just traded this past season and Lance was 2 years ago.
Second, Lance had 2 years left on his contract, so there was time to see if he could progress. With Fields there was only one year, so the expectation would have been he would sit on the bench one season and be gone.
