If Columbo is our starting RT who do you keep in reserve at tackle?

In Pettiti's case that's because he started 16 games there last year and was in the mix at RT early in traing camp also. So he knows what he has in Pettiti at RT.

When Fabini struggled early in TC I think Parcells made the decision to look for another alternative for the swing T, having his doubts about Fabini's capability to handle it. With Pettiti taking over that role out of necessity that left Fabini fighting Colombo for the starting RT spot in order to make the team.
I love that having played 16 games at RT last season is the REASON WHY HE ISN'T playing there this year.

I'd like to hear your source in the closed practices.

uh, TC practices are open, and McQ saw time at RT in one of our preseason games I believe, and played LT last night

Who can? I mean really, is there a LT in the league that can contain Ware? This year, I don't think so.

Pettiti is the exact same player as McQ, except that he has a year experience. After all he went through last year, it would be a terrible thing for the organization to cut him loose for a guy that has one or two years left in him. The best scenario is McQ to the practice swuad and bring him in when the inevitable injury occurs during the seaosn.

If we cut Rob, he will be a good one somewhere else. Hopefully, it won't be in our division.

Oh c'mon. You're now resorting to the argument that because they were playing BEHIND Fabini they're going to make the team over him. This makes no sense whatsoever.

edit: And I'm talking about the practcies this week back in Texas.

Neither has played RT in the last couple weeks. You know...the time when Bill said he wants everything to shake out where its supposed to be. The time when it matters who is playing what.

Well seeing how he likes players to practice the spots that they will play so he can evaluate them and 'show something' regardless of age then that completely precludes Fabini who has seen no time at LT as the swing tackle.

it's so simple, Fabini was brought into battle for the RT job, he's not gonna win it IMO, so he's supposed to be the swing OT, but McQ and Rob are the only ones who have been practicing in that role, put 2 and 2 together, and the whole basis of theogt's argument was "what if Flo goes down?", well, from all indications, his replacement would be McQ

Actualluy McQuistan is nothing like Pettiti.

Pettiti went 4 years to Pitt and peaked his snior season where he stonewalled Freeney. The following year after eating lots of beer and pizza he ballooned and really has never regained that form.

McQuistan went to Weber state and played left guard next to his brother. He had some academic issues for a bit so while his brother attended 4 years he was nonly able to get two seasons at Weber State.

The do both play tackle but McQuistan is raw and the fact that he has come so far under NFL coaching to me means he could end up being really really good.

No that's not what I said. If Pettiti would have looked better than Colombo at RT, he'd still be there. But I think he's more than comfortable with Pettiti's capabilities as a backup RT based on seeing him start there 16 games last season. What he had to find out was whether or not he could handle LT in an emergency one game situation where Adams is hurt midgame.

As wayne stated earlier: Petitti is the 3rd best RT and 3rd (possibly 4th) best LT. Do the math.

That still doesnt answer the fact hes not practicing there and Parcells sees that to be critical regardless of a players past.

Adams
Kosier
Gurode
Rivera
Columbo

BUPS
RP
Johnson
Fabini
And the other guy that played behind Rivera last night

PM will be cut
but somebody is going to snag anybody we release to PS. Just like we did with Columbo. They would also snag RP even faster.

So when Petitti doesn't play RT its because Bill knows what he has, but when Fabini doesn't play LT its because he can't play the position. The least you guys could do is be consistent.
