I thought this thread was absolutely ********...after playing with the playoff machine it appears the OP is correct...barring a sweep of the Eagles, they win every single tiebreaker...

This is not encouraging....of course we could win the division outright...but it's not comforting that we can't win any tiebreakers without sweeping them

Win the next three and Philly's season is over. We can sweep them. Seattle's defense will have a big game vs Sanchez.

If Dallas loses to Philly on Thanksgiving day, then we are all but done in the NFC East division race. We would lose the tiebreaker with Philly, the next game with Philly is in their place and we would also drop to 2 and 2 in division games. The odds are that we would have to beat Philly in the rematch, AND win out to ensure we got in.

You're getting too far ahead of yourself. 8-4 and one game back of Philly doesn't eliminate us from anything. The Eagles still have to play us on the road, where we apparently don't lose, face the desperate Seahawks and play the other division rivals. They could beat us Thursday and still end up 11-5 and 10-6 and in a wild-card spot at best.

There's no reason for any hand-wringing yet.

If philly beats us once...they own all tiebreakers..if they finish w 11 wins..that means we have to win every other game left to win the division

Even though Dallas can and should beat philthy the Cowboys have the potential to get blown out by them. Despite all the talking down of the Eagles, they are a very dangerous team.

Not if they lose to us the second time and to another East team. That would tie us head to head, in the division and in the conference, so I think it then comes down to points.

But anyway, the point was that there are a lot of things still in play even if we lose Thursday.

Id say I have to agree with this. Dallas needs at least 3 of the next 5 games to stand a chance at a wild card if they dont beat the eagles.

No. If we are tied at 11-5 under any circumstances...philly wins the division...at least according to what I have gathered so far

1st Wildcard may not be so bad if you can get it. 1st Wildcard gets the winner of the NFC South and they all look pretty bad to me.

There is a scenario where we split with the Eagles, they lose to another division opponent and the seahawks and we lose to the Bears and Colts. In this case it would go down to strength of victory which is tbd.

Granted this would mean both teams are 10-6. However we can still win the division with a tied record.

Yeah. I saw this scenario also. I couldn't find any that we would win at 11-5..pretty sure it isn't possible

Maybe my UT math is a little bit off, but how exactly is losing on Thanksgiving eliminating us from the division race?

What if we win in Philly and split the season series?

That would give each team a 9-4 record with 3 games remaining. If we go 3-0 and Philly goes 2-1 over these 3 games, we win the division since our final record would be 12-4 and they would be 11-5.

Are or we already conceding that Philly will run the table since they looked so good against the Titans
