If Parsons wants 30 million per year are you paying him?

a long term contract would be the best way to sign parsons .
Something similar to mahomes contract.

Of course you pay it. By the time his 5th year option is up $30M would be an absolute bargain. He’s getting a lot more than that and will be worth it. You never worry about how much you pay generational type players. You piece in the rest around them and then laugh when someone half his talent level gets more the next year

Easy question, yes.

He is one of the top 3 defensive players in the NFL. He is worth too defensive player pay.

If you took parsons off this defense it wouldn’t be nearly as good as it has been the last 2 years.
Would you do that if you knew that you could potentially miss the playoffs for the duration of the contract? If Jerry does it that is exactly what might happen. Most of the cap would be going to 2 players.... good luck building a team around that.

I'll be honest. I love him but I don't think his body will hold up well on that 2nd contract. If I could get 2 1's, I'd trade him.

They better be looking in the draft to replace him if that happens. Not saying no, don’t pay him. But if you have his replacement or some one near his abilities. Then proceed from there.

Right now I am not concerning myself over it.
Finding another parsons is not that simple
Elite players aren’t that easy to just go out and find

How do you replace an LT, JJ Watts or Arron Donalds? He's a special/generation talent. You don't let that type of player walk. You build around them. I said in another thread, at this point, I honestly believe Jerry and Stephen would let Dak walk before losing Parsons, and it may come to that.

BTW ....the answer to OP's question is yes! easy
Pretty easy decision

If he wants to break the bank, I don't think they should. Get the 5 years out of him, his comp pick, and then move on
You'll never get 5 years out of him. If he has another great year in 23, he'll pull a Zeke and demand a new contract after 3 years. You know Jerry will crack.

You can get 2 first rounders for him in a heartbeat and you would be nuts to only take that IMO
It would start there, have to be on par or greater with Khalil Mack trade a few years ago.

After this year, Pay him the highest salary of any D Player in the league for 6 years and leave it at that. Ofc he's gonna wanna renegotiate at year 4/5 but burn that bridge when you come to it.

Two years ago T.J. Watt signed a 4 year, $112,011,000 contract with the Pittsburgh Steelers, including a $35,593,470 signing bonus, $80,000,000 guaranteed, and an average annual salary of $28,002,750 per year.

I don't know if you sign Parsons to $30M per year or not, but the starting price is going to be north of what TJ got.
Players like Watt and Parson you don't Sign to 4yrs. But the deal with these 4 yr deals as it's the same with Dak. Players weren't going more than 4 because there was the new tv money coming in so Players wanted the shortest deals.

A Players AAV doesn't matter anymore, what matters is how it's structured. Dak has a40mil AAV but since his new deal started he's had 17, 19, and 26mil caphits. Next yr there will 61mil of guaranteed money still owed to dakwhich at some point will be turned into a signing bonus for his next deal. So in essence Dak would've played on a 4yr deal worth around 100mil. Basically Jerry put a down payment on his next deal. So that 61mil basically has already been paid at signing or restructuring.

Dallas knows how to work contracts with franchise players. They started it with Romo, now it's Dak and isee the next player they do this with is Parsons.

I want to see how he does this year. Get a reading on how he is holding up and how his production goes.

Its time to gamble that the huge salary cap jumps are going to come; its a big gamble but I think worth it.

If he shines next season do what it takes to keep him.
