Question. If we trade for Boldin, does it give us the slowest WRs in the league, between Boldin, Crayton, and 4.58 Stanback?

Discuss.

I don't know if they'll be the slowest.

I saw Crayton juke & burn a couple DB's despite going against 2nd & 3rd string CB's, but Crayton is a 2nd or 3rd WR so it ballance out.

I tell you what, well have the strongest WR core.

My reason for asking this question is to see if you like R. Williams cause he's better fit in Dallas than Boldin & Johnson or is it because he played in a college in Texas (it doesn't have to be UT).

I notice R. Williams (WR) is getting alot of love here and I was just wondering why.

That's all.
you understand why i said that now, berg?

Oh, gotcha. Saw my post quoted and wondered.

i was quoting all the people that said that college didn't matter in their wanting of roy williams and ended it with ramp saying (from what it appeared) that everyone wanted him for homer reasons.

cause he is overhyped on this board. he is overhyped by fellow texans who root for the texas longhorns. the op feels people are biased towards roy because he went to a texas college.
I don't think Roy is overhyped at all. I know there are Longhorn fans who thought he was the greatest ever. But being Cowboy fans also, they seem pretty level headed to me.

A lot of it could be that he's from Texas. Not sure why that is so hard to believe. A large core group of Cowboys fans are from Texas and are Horns fans.

Part of it is that it is common knowledge that Roy is a Cowboys fan. People will have a soft spot for that.

Part of it I'll take some responsibility for. I've been a loud advocate of him coming here, and I have reason to believe he will be a Dallas Cowboy in 2008. As big a blabbermouth as I am it is bound to be a topic here.

Of course him being from UT is a factor. We like to see our own wear the star and play well. RW is one of the most dominant WR in the league. If he comes to dallas he will only show that more. Chad is still my favorite WR in the league and the one I want.

Would you still like him to be on the Cowboys roster?

Just curious.

Both players are good, but Boldin is better (imo).:starspin

1. None of the Texas homers will answer that honestly.

2. Boldin > RW. No doubt about that.

I'm a big UT fan and I've said I would take Boldin or Chad over RW. But I think every single one of us would be happy with any of them.

I wouldn't mind Roy but not for anything more then #28. He needs to learn to run routes.

There is almost no doubt the favouritism of RoyW over Boldin is related primarily to his Texas roots and his alleged interest in playing for the Cowboys (only if they gave him the most money).

If the above weren't true, no one would be too interested in giving up a #1 pick plus $10 M/year for a guy who has been farily unproductive compared to other #1 WRs in the league, and has a long history of minor injury problems that cause him to miss a large number of games. Investing big money and a high draft pick in him is not wise because I don't believe he will ever be a true #1 WR.

We would be better served to use our picks on developmental WRs from the 2nd or 3rd rounds this year (nothing of much value in the first) and then seeing what becomes available in FA next year. If TO is the best option, we should then just re-sign him. If RoyW really comes on, then he could be a consideration given his age relative to TO.

For a team that is as cash strapped as we are rapidly becoming, low #1 draft picks have to yield good starters that will be cheap for a number of years.

We don't have time to wait to develop a WR. We need a vet now that can put us over the top.

I think that this is being too shortsighted. It is better to build a team with depth that will be competitive for a number of years. Right now we have TO to act as our #1 WR. The problem we have is that Crayton is a good #3 but below average #2 WR and the other guys were still developmental last year. Even if we hold pat, I would expect better contributions from the others.

The biggest improvement in this year's offense will likely come from finally having a competent OL coach who will hopefully get this underachieving group of run blockers to perform much better. This should in turn really open up the passing game.

Our best chance is to keep our picks and draft/develop players well, let some vets leave when they are too expensive for their contributions (see Colombo, Roy Williams, Ken Hamlin, possibly TNew) and use FA wisely to fill in gaps with role players.
