And if they extend Dak, I'll go a step further and never watch the Cowboys again, not even the highlights on youtube. I'll be done with the Jones clown car circus forevevah.
I don't even live in Dallas anymore so what do I care. I'm too old to waste my time with this Jones rubbish. This org is all talk from Jones to Dak. Talk talk talk. Save it for the ring.

I think this will be an intriguing season. I think the WCO we will be running will be good for the Cowboys. I have been saying for years that Dak needs to be running the WCO. This will allow him to hit WRs who are already running (as in, in slants and not curl routes). Thus, more yards can be gained. I think Mike McCarthy is an experienced enough coach with playcalling to put Dak in a position to succeed. Now it will be down to Dak. Hopefully, he will take to McCarthy's playcalling. It did well in Green Bay.

Coach, I will watch this season as I have for many years since I stopped letting the results of Cowboys games dictate my emotional well being in the 1980s. And I also keep a very pragmatic approach to any Cowboys player. I just want to win and whoever gives us the best chance to win is who I want playing.

One of the many intriguing parts of the QB position in Dallas is how much our fan base puts the success or failure of the entire team solely on the back of the signal caller. That goes all the way back to Dandy Don Meredith, who although he had flaws was surely good enough to win a championship. But the total team wasn’t good enough until 2 or 3 years after Dandy retired. Of course having Roger was big too, lol.

But whatever anyone thinks of Dak’s ability to lead this team, (I happen to think he’s good enough to win playoff games with the right support) unless this FO drafts or acquires another QB with the skill and upside to replace and/or improve what we’ve had with Dak, it doesn’t matter. Currently, there is no QB on this roster that gives us a better chance.

And sadly, for whatever reason, Jerry is averse to drafting a QB early in the draft with a QB on the roster he feels is a good enough starter. THAT is not a good policy in my view. Look at what the pats did even when they had Brady- they still drafted QBs as early as round 2. The pack drafted Rodgers in the first round in 2005, and he was a backup to Brett Favre for 3 seasons before starting. Not drafting QBs often is a mistake IMO. You never know when you might find gold.

As to whether Dak gets an extension or not, unless we acquire a realistic heir apparent, what choice does this team have? Jerry hates to tank to rebuild. If we don’t draft a really good QB or sign one in FA (won’t happen) that could realistically compete with Dak, why would we expect this team to go in a different direction at QB?

I posed this in another thread but thought it would be an interesting topic here, if all posters can really be honest with their answers.

First off, I am going to say Prescott is a more polarizing player than Romo was and I could see fans of the team actually pulling against their own team to try and get rid of him.

It is an oddity but it is there, many just don't want him to be the DC QB. The question is enough to pull against him and the team?

I gotta say, if I disliked him at QB as much as some here do, and evidently that is not exclusive to the Zone, I might be tempted to pull for a QB crash and burn.

And I am not going to ask if not him, then whom because those that really dislike Prescott do not care, I really do believe they have arrived at "anyone but him".

I am also not going to say if they go that route they are not good fans. Plenty of fans have pulled for their teams to get worse in order to get better.

So, my question is mainly to those that do not like him. If he does not get a new contract, can you pull for him and the team knowing he will get another one and most likely larger than the extension he might have gotten?

Oh, I know, the Joneses intend on extending him but they intended on getting him on a new contract before they had to do that 160M one. He's bet on himself before and won.
No real Dallas cowboy fan a true blue fan whatever hope for that because that means the Cowboys would end up being bad this year

if you're a fan all you hope for is success, not a tank job not a dumpster fire because you don't like a player. I'm sorry but that is absolutely 100% against fandom rules and regulations if that's how a fan, truly a fan hoping for Prescott to be horrible, so that way he can be cut and got rid of at the expense of an entire season Oh no no no no that don't sit well with me...:mad:o_O:omg:

100%, its ok to draft a QB early but burning down the team to get the #1 pick every few years has probably the same or even lower success rate than what you described. I dont get the ones who want to throw this defense away to get the #1 pick and hope he is not the 70% that never make it.

Gonna be interesting to see how many are just talk if they extend Dak

There are about 10 people I don’t expect to see anymore

My guess is they are all talk . They won’t be able to give up their schtick! We’ll see

"Fans hoping we lose to get rid of our top 10 QB"

I mean...........why would you even care what a bunch of loser fans like that thought? And replace the QB with who?
So lets destroy a legitimate contender in a weak NFC and go on a QB hunt? Thats pretty much the dumbest thing I have ever heard. Other than Zeke is a top 5 RB. I dont believe there is any fan that truly thinks like that.

You know what is even dumber? When you said that QB's are not supposed to win games. That is dumb as hell!

Why not, why do you care what other fans feel?

They might feel that they've watched this long enough and are willing to endure a bad season in the hope of upgrading at QB.

I will say that I think Dak's play this season will likely determine whether or not they draft a QB round one. Doesn't mean they will go a different direction, but, if Dak plays poorly or has a similar season to last year, then I think you could see a QB taken in the first or second round. If he plays well, then I think he gets an extension. Regardless, I hope we do well. I love what weve done on defence. I think our offense should be better. I think the season will be a lot of fun. I think the biggest question is what we do at kicker.

It's not really a matter of if he gets a new deal its when. Most likely happens next offseason.

I think he’s good enough to win it all with but not good enough to rely on to win you games, esp in the playoffs. He needs a great team and strong running game, like many QBs not named Brady, Rodgers, or Mahomes.

I pulled against the team for about seven (7) years straight hoping that The Clapping Carrot would get canned....didn't work. I won't pull for or against Dak....but he is 100% NOT the answer, if you are longing for the "next level"

I’ll watch like I always do—rooting for Dallas and enjoying the games with family and friends. Don’t care anymore about money and politics. If they’re not there, they’re not there.
