CowboysZone LOYAL Fan
This became a pretty heated debate at my family's Thanksgiving table last night, for a large family of Cowboys fans who live in New York but whose grandparents were all Cowboys fans (who also never lived in Texas). Heck I've been such a die-hard fan that I signed up for this forum at 13 / 14 years old.

There were of course the typical aspects of any Thanksgiving conversation that came up - including race, politics, etc; that are not appropriate for this board.

but on pure football this is where I stand -

Dak was on track for nearly 7,000 yards. He is a proven starter who has been top 12 in each of his seasons, and would be in the MVP conversation right now if he continued playing as he was.

This team went from an offense that simply couldn't be stopped to an offense that simply can't do anything with only 1 man changing.

I will end it with this - Trevor Lawrence may look like the best prospect since Andrew Luck, but Andrew Luck's career was no where on par with how Dak Prescott's career is slated to go if he continues playing at the level he has thus far performed at.

Dak Prescott is young and proven. Give me the proven QB. With how Dak has performed and this franchise is operating, if Dak is not under center because the franchise didn't do right by him, I will become a fan of whatever team he goes it.

"I will become a fan of whatever team he goes it."

This tells me you are not a Cowboy fan, you are a Dak fan! How embarrassing ...

Oh nice. It's now up to 41 million. Feel Like I'm in an auction house now.

I comprehended just fine and am going to hold you to it. If they want him, they can trade up to get him.
No they can't. I promise you The Jets will take Lawrence with the first pick and then probably be held hostage for some trade after the draft.

If we’re in the top 5 our needs to be Sewell or Parsons or trade down a few for top CB

If the cowboys get a top 3 pick. I think they should draft a qb, and then franchise dak.

They should make a run next year with a healthy team, and a healthy dak. The new qb gets a year to learn the offense. Then let dak go and have a cheap qb for 4 years. Rebuild the defense.

mr Brian--- all i can say is total total total agreement...Dak has greatly improved especially last two years in footwork , throwing motion, and field awareness...much more than i thought he would have which shows his dedication

to his QB craft....Dak is a total stud in my view

If any Cowboys fan here really wants to win SB's then we need to start building an elite defense. There is a way to do that through trades and the draft (remember Herschel Walker?). The HW trade helped propel us to those 3 SB wins in 4 years. Maybe we could use a new defensive coordinator. I'm not sold on Nolan's scheme (whatever the hell his scheme really is). Face it, our defense stinks worse than my beer and chili farts. Where's our sack-master? Where's our run-stopping brick wall?

Dak was off to a very good start this year but, we were still losing. Our (elite?) multi-millionaire RB can't stop killing drives with his fumbles and our other RB (Pollard) is averaging more than a yard per carry over Zeke but...

And that brings us to the most glaring, obvious, directly in our face problem of all. Until we hire an actual football lifer as our GM we can all forget about any SB wins for the foreseeable future. If Dak can come back and pass a physical we should see what we can get for him instead of paying him hundreds of millions and then having to field another piecemeal defense. Draft as elite of a QB as we can (like when we drafted Troy), let him learn on the job (like Troy did) and take that money and build an elite, punishing defense. As the old saying goes, 'defense wins championships.' That's how Trent Dilfer got his ring.

Know this, I'm neither a Dak hater or Dak slobberer. I just want the Cowboys to win. I'm just trying to be pragmatic. It's a gamble we can obviously afford.

The majority of Cowboys fans agree with you so don't let a few anti-Dak comments lead you to believe otherwise. Sign Dak and spend draft resources on defense. Trevor Lawrence nor Joe Montana can fix this defense. And spending big in free agency rarely works either.
