Our defense stinks?

The bottom line is there is nothing to the "ruin the young QB by playing him" nonsense.

Did I say we needed to ask Henson to be Peyton Manning

In a way yes. We sure cant run it. We are asking Bledsoe to be Manning what would be different for Romo or Henson?

As for the comments regarding Kyle Orton, um remember he is only starting because Rex Grossman was injured and the Bears had no one else.
Is he being ruined or not?

Are the Bears suffering or not?

Skating around throwing out reasons why he is given a shot isn't the issue. A lesser coach with a lesser considered player is making it work.

I didn't say he should have pulled him.

He SHOULDN'T have pulled him. That's the point.

Have you noticed that the logical side of this is one sided? Holy cow.

I don't believe in that nonsense either. Playing QB in the NFL has more to do with the mental aspect of the game than the physical. If a QB falters in the NFL because he got rattled during his rookie year, then he is probably not meant to play in the NFL, and I'm not talking about stats but a rookie's poise and development. Eli Manning, Peyton Manning, and Donovan McNabb all struggled during the rookie season but they also showed poise and improvement over the course of the year. If a QB isn't mentally tough enough to handle the poor play of his rookie season and to persist onwards, then he doesn't deserve to be in the NFL. Playing in the NFL isn't just about your stats in college, your size and your passing mechanics. If you can't handle the mental pressure and adjust to the speed of the game, you were not meant to play in the NFL. Unfortunatley, some of the most gifted QB's lacked the mental game to succeed in the NFL. Just ask Tim Couch!

***?
I don't remember Bledsoe running the no huddle and calling his own plays for a minutes much less a whole season. We are asking Blesoe to be a bus driver. Period.

Sure it's the issue. If he is only playing due to Grossman's injury then your logic that another lesser coach is playing another player who is successful is moot. In any event, I doubt many would say Kyle Orton is a lesser player than our 3rd baseman.

How do you compare those guys to Henson who got one half of playing time?

And that's my point...we have run a game plan that is ridiculously restricted due to the bus driver mind set.

Typically, you'd bring in a young QB...restrict the game plan for him...and not ask him to win it...but instead, to not lose it.

We're doing that with veteran QB's the last two years...

The INT in Seattle....the INT in Philly...the INT vs Denver...all throws that would have been made by a rookie QB...

Im trying to understand, really. What benefit would there be to playing young QBs on this team? We hant been good on the ground game and we sure arent supplying the blocking needed to throw.
I mean do we want to develop a qb or have a Carr, Harrington or the most shell shocked QB in the history of the game Ramsey?

I know no team is perfect for a young QB but our offense isnt even close to it.

Im really trying to understand not argue or be hard headed.

What indication has Henson shown that says he's a blue chip QB. He looked lost last year against the bears and was afwul in preseason this year. And i like Henson alot, but i'm not blinded from the reality that he not ready to play.

The point that some are trying to make is that it doesn't matter if he didn't look ready then, most young QBs don't. We had an opportunity late last season to find out a few things but instead experienced the slow, painful death of Vinnie T. I personally believe it was for no good reason.

Just a comment or two about the Bears comparison...

It's not quite fair, because Orton is doing just enuff to not get them beat, but he's certainly not putting it on his shoulders and carrying them. That's why there's a huge debate about whether he'll remain the starter after Grossman comes completely back...

Also, as somebody mentioned before, the Bears D and running game are a huge assist to their young quarterback. He just has to do enuff so they don't lose. His stats today: 6/17 68 yds.

If we're talking about doing the same thing for Henson last year, we didn't have that. Cowboys had neither a strong running game nor as good a D as they have. I imagine to make that comparison work, then arguing about how it would affect Henson playing THIS or next year and NOT last year would be a better comparison...

It's the same type of mentality taken w/Ben R.

The pieces around him are what's helping him... No way the pieces we had last year could've helped any QB and our record reflects that...

What benefit was there to playing Vinny down the stretch last year?

What benefit was there to Bledsoe still being in the game in the 1st Philly game when it was out of reach? Same question for the Cardinals game?

Many teams take their starters out and get some "on the job" training for their younger players. If the game is at all in question don't do it. But if it is no longer in doubt, give the kids (either kid, I don't care) some PT.

That is ALL any of us arguing this side are saying.

To me it was the ultimate thumb his nose at the media when Parcells played Vinny for every play of the rest of the season like there was anythin gleft to play for.

And excuse me for not buying that pitiful "it could ruin the player" excuse. That is why Orton's name has been brought up. Is he being "ruined?" What about Roethlesberger last year? Is he being "ruined?" Some thought Coughlin was stupid when he switched to Eli Manning last year when Warner had them winning. How does it look now?

What benefit did Coughlin doing that have on the Giants? If a young guy come sin, gains some confidence, and starts to "get it" you're set for a whole lot longer than 1 or 2 years.

If this still doesn't make sense I'm at a loss what else to say.

Now that there is interesting.

It certainly didnt stop people from bragging about henson, including myself when he looked good against the Ravens when the game was finally out of reach.

Also, Quincy Carter had Troy Hambrick and and one of the worst offensive lines seen around this town in years and he looked half-way decent.

They could have put Drew Henson in last year, dumbed down the offense via short passes to Witten, Anderson (cant remember if he played last year lol), and Keyshawn Johnson.

Im sorry, I look to the East Coast and see Donovan Mcnabb, Eli Manning, and seeing the Commanders at least try to draft a Franchise QB and I want to do the same thing.

Let's just kick Henson or Romo lose, whoever would be the worst backup and use the draft to get our future playmaker at signal caller.

Im not talking about anyone here directly but the media in general when I say I am so sick of hearing excuses for Quincy Carter, Chad Hutchinson, Vinny Testeverde, and Drew Henson. I think I will drown myself in the Trinity River if I hear another excuse about why these young guys didnt or are not on the field.

We should have never passed up Byron Leftwhich. Yeah Yeah, the guy has not proved anything and he gets hurt, but I think we are way ahead of schedule if you put Parcells and Byron together.
