Just a comment about "innocent until proven guilty." That promise does not stall the right to free speech and opinion. It is more an instruction for a jury so that an accused can have a fair trial. Nowhere does it say that those not on the jury can't form their own opinions or state their own feelings on a subject.

Jeffrey Dahmer was innocent until proven guilty despite the fact there were dead bodies in his apartment and a man accusing him of trying to kill him. From where I sit, Dahmer was guilty as sin and I didn't need a judge or jury to tell me otherwise.

We all do that. The problem is we too often let our personal feelings interfere. If we like a guy and see others "convicting" him (for lack of a better description) we will immediately jump to his defense and say he is "innocent until proven guilty." In truth, if he did it, no he isn't. Again, that is a principle for a jury to agree to, and decide. The rest of us have every right to our opinions on a matter, and from there the right to speak out minds.

good points, hos. i agree 100% and tried to say the same thing in my "human nature" comments and remain as "pc" as i could.

after this next time my friend tells me anything i'll keep it in detox. it's just not worth the OH YEA!?!?! people lob out.

I was never clamoring that Vick was innocent. All I ever kept saying was that Vick is to be presumed innocent until proven otherwise; or that Vick isn't guilty - yet - of anything. Charges haven't even been filed yet.
Just to clarify, I didn't single anyone out or point fingers. If you were saying it, I have no idea. I just saw it getting to be a topic and gave my 2 cents.

Dahmer was the ONLY one who lived in his room. He didn't have other people living with him.

Dahmer actually lived there.

Off topic: But my apartment on campus is only a couple of blocks from where Dahmer lived.....
I'm not sure what your point is about Dahmer living there alone. He was still guaranteed the right of "innocent until proven guilty"
under the bill of rights.

Riddle me this, if "innocent until proven guilty" is real, why are some accused kept in jail until their trials? That's all I am saying.

It goes both ways...

Or we don't like a guy and see others "convicting" him (for lack of a better description) we will immediately jump on the attack and say he undoubtedly ________ (whatever)
Oh absolutely it works both ways. You see it in politics especially. If you don't like a guy's politics, no matter what he does, it's a scandal.

I really like Mike Vick, as a football player. I hope this stuff isn't true, because I am entertained by his talents, and because the sport doesn't need another black eye. I detest cruelty to animals. I'm also someone who is a realist. Others don't like him, and are going to state their opinions. Some see the litany of negative energy around him and are going to presume his guilt.

I honestly don't see anything wrong with that. I don't see where someone can't see the allegations, and state their opinion on it.

Thanks for clearing that up.
Not sure why the rolleyes icon is needed, but you're welcome.

As do those who wish to defend Vick or those (like me) who want to see all of the evidence before I condemn him.

Do I not have my supposed right to claim that its premature to "label" him guilty...?
Did I say you didn't have that right? Please highlight that portion of my post and point out to me where I maintained only one opinion on the subject is valid.

You can't.

I am talking strictly about the argument "innocent until proven guilty," not anything at all regarding Vick at this point. Can you now see that?

Let em bottom line this for you. No one on this great green earth is so moral that they look at every instance of a crime and say "innocent until proven guilty." If you tell me you are that moral I am flat out going to laugh out loud at the claim. We all are opinionated individuals. You can't tell me you've seen people arrested and said to all assembled, "remember, he's innocent until proven guilty so just keep that in mind."

People are going to form opinions and state them. With or without a jury or judge's input on innocence or guilt. That's a fact. It works both ways.

All I'm saying is "innocent until proven guilty" is a philosophy for a jury more than a citizenry. Those outside that jury box are under no obligation to presume anything, much less innocence or guilt, and as such, can state their opinions on it.

Clear as mud?

And the world goes round. all i have to say is untill all the facts are out there, untill charges are being filed, i say we shouldn't declare anyone guilty. When you have a high profile athlete, you do seem to get alot more people wanting to see you fall, and this is ATL, not exactly your friendly city, full of love, and understanding.

I know your character and know you didn't throw that out from a Martini lunch high.

The nature of the Internet is skepticism. Take doubts about the veracity with a grain of salt. Share your takes. Silence doesn't win anything.

maybe not but it does help avoid stupid arguments.

Vick's guilty I have no doubt.

The Human Society and PETA will not let this go with the Falcons or the NFL.

Nor should they.

My only wish is that those poor starved and mistreated dogs would get the chance to be in a locked room alone with the piece of garbage that is Vick.

I think I'm the only one who really likes the stupid arguments.

Not sure what that says about me.

Yep, I'm with you.

Take those mistreated dogs and put them in a room with Vick.

Now, I'm not an NFC fan, so I can't say I know a lot about Vick, but man, this guy (if it is true what they say -- always a question), then throw him in. Hey, I might bite him too.

Stop being a hater.

Just kidding. Some facts are still yet to roll into the equation. When they do, it may not be a good thing for Vick.

Yum, get him boys and girls.

Leave me out of the biting Vick stuff! I don't bite crap...

Geez.... he just keeps getting deeper and deeper with that hole he's digging for himself.

I wonder if Atlanta is starting to wonder if they did the right thing by trading Shaub.

As well that you shouldn't. Studies show that people could possibly ingest the Herpes virus after eating crap. Well, I'm not 100% sure of that, but it does seem plausible. :(
