I'd agree with that, too. He's a good player, that's not in doubt. He may not be the bad guy he's painted out to be (then again, he may be that guy), but he's a grade A knucklehead when it comes to saying, and sometimes doing, dumb things off the field. Better to wait a bit and see how he handles everything since nobody else can talk to him, anyway.

But you gotta know Jerry's drooling at the idea of extending this guy.

One more game like he had Sunday against the Giants, Jerry will pawn his hips to sign him

Hardy has been known for giving "interesting" interviews and saying oddball things.. that's part of his personality. Some might call him a little off, but he almost has a character he plays. Some of the local and national media hasn't quite caught up to it yet it seems. In general, once again the media's swarm policy that all Cowboys news, especially sensationalized, is ratings/click gold is on full display. Does Hardy need to be more responsible with his words or does the media need to be more responsible with their journalism?

Hardy said he picks pro bowl players by how attractive the women around them are.. what does that have to do with domestic violence? and coming out guns blazing.. many people own guns, football is a violent sport, this is a very common saying.. again.. are we saying if you own or support guns you support murder? really? People have to stop faking being offended by this nonsense and pretending it means anything other than what it obviously was intended to mean.

TBH- I agree totally with Mizike. Simply put, Hardy came in with gunz fully loaded and blazing, and I liked it!!!!! His effort was the best thing I've seen on the defense in years. In fact, since Haley was destroying QBs... I look for manning to be in big trouble.

I can see him as a Niner easily. Will he give JJ a discount for showing some faith and loyalty? Can Gregory be the second coming of Hardy?

My $ says JJ hopes Gregory is that good so he can spend $ elsewhere.

Sorry. Makes no sense.

Obviously, it's a risk that the Cowboys' FO is willing to take. The state of their team at present makes it so. Those that hate that franchise for what they are and have been for some time now aren't going to suddenly forgive and forget everything that they already have come to resent. In truth, much of it is built upon simple competitive jealousy that doesn't just disappear.

What's happening as of now isn't a knee jerk reaction. You can bet it's been mulled over many times and whatever follows will be the result of many hours of contemplation that isn't likely to be reversed. All this hate is a self-propagating thing that continues no matter what.

Those that like to think the Cowboys organization is terrible aren't likely to change no matter what transpires now and in the future. We'll see what comes. Probably, it won't get any better nor worse than it already is but of course, that remains to be seen.
Very well stated. Those that want to pile on the negative bandwagon will continue to do so at every opportunity, and those that drink the kool-aid will continue to do so no matter what. The Cowboys always have been and probably always will be a media lightening rod...just comes with the territory. I don't think resigning him will at all be based on PR ramifications, but rather the price he will command based on simple supply vs demand economics. Players of his caliber are in very short supply while demand for those players is extremely high. He will get a lot of money and get to choose from a number of suitors. People can say that a player isn't worth what they get paid, but since they got paid they are, by definition, worth it.

Lol- I used a very similar saying, "fully loaded and guns blazing" before I go to a hostile meeting. I'd often tell my team during the meeting via a code to put the guns down, though, lol.

he is going to be expensive- the one edge we have is that we were the ones that took a chance on him when pretty much everyone else ran for cover. And a lot of owners are scared to be seen as politically incorrect.

This is what I'm counting on. Jerry could give 2 sheets about bad PR because he doesn't believe there is such a thing.

Explain to me how these supposed pr gaffes hurt the Dallas Cowboys? Do you think it will hurt ticket sales? Tv time ? Merchandise sales?

Let me help. It won't. At all.

Also, the legalities of the case have been discussed on here thoroughly. So I won't go into it. Bottom line. He gets to appeal and has a right as a citizen of North Carolina to have a jury trial. The prosecuter chose not to pursue it and your probable assumption why is insignificant.

You're still thinking like a fan. This stuff does hurt the company in acquiring new customers. It may not matter for fans like you and me; we will follow the Cowboys regardless. But do you know how many young people get introduced to football every year? Do you think a young person today who doesn't live in the metroplex would want to follow the Cowboys based on their PR this past year? There are a lot of people out there who care about domestic violence and violence against women, and all they're going to hear about the Cowboys is negative crap from the media. Why would a new fan to football want to associate themselves with that?

Front office people care about these things in this new age, and I guarantee you it affects personnel decisions. If that means cutting a player who gets involved in another domestic violence situation, then they will. The Bears just did it with Ray McDonald, but no one cared because he was on a cheap contract. But what happens if this same thing occurs after we give Hardy a huge guarantee? Are you willing to risk the future of the Cowboys on Hardy's mental capacity? For me, no. Not right now. Way too big of a risk. Hardy can't even give a normal interview to help this team out.

None of that matters when they win........Hardy helps them win
